He went babbling on about the whole how Pete loves competition and how he wondered if we might grab Barkley if he is still there.

I know we need a backup QB but I think Mort is playing up the Pete-USC Connection too much.

The thing I love about this draft and why I'm glad we were observers in the first is that there are still SO many great players available and when we pick we're going to get somebody that can come in and contribute like a first rounder.

Any regrets trading for Harvin knowing we could have had Patterson?
Nah, I still like the proven player in Harvin. Patterson, while I like him, is still pretty raw. Harvin fits what we need perfectly too.

Meh, Patterson will pretty much be able to do what Harvin does. They're both receivers with shaky hands that excel with the football in their hands. I expect both to be used in similar manners.

Percy has great hands. Patterson is a receiver who can run with the ball. Percy is more like a RB who can get the ball from any part of the field.

You also know that Percy is a proven product. Patterson is a risk.

Percy does not have "great" hands. They're average at best.

Lol. You don't waste a second round pick on a backup QB no matter how much your coach loves competition.

I am happy with Harvin i think Patterson is a project he had inconsistent hands at Tennessee but i still would of loved the pick if that's what Schneider decided to do.

Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

I'm fine with drafting him as a backup because he is an intelligent player and he knows how Pete does things.

'Great' isn't the best word but from what I have seen of Patterson, Percy has better hands.

According to PFF Harvin caught 62 of 63 catchable balls last year. That's not too shabby... And 218 catches out of 232 catchable balls in his first three years in the league. I'm not great at math but I think that's a 95% catch rate of catchable balls. (280/295 = .949)

Just an observation.... maybe its the obesity epidemic in America,.......or Maybe its because of the new Doritos Locos tacos, but this has got to be the considered the highest average weight of any 1st round ever.

9 OL and 8 DL. 3 players under 200lbs. 14 players over 300lbs.

Eric Fisher and Lane Johnson look really really lean though.

On Harvin, he doesn't seem like a player who is likely to drop the ball, unlike Patterson.

Third highest catch rate and second lowest drop rate in the league last season. I guess you can define average however you wish.

In any case, I like Patterson, but I'm not sure he's a sure thing. I'd like to see how his game develops, specifically his hands(Dont like that he's a body catcher) and route running before making a definitive statement one way or the other. What I will say is Harvin was notably more dynamic as a prospect, and his game has comfortably translated to the NFL. He's a certainty, and with better coaching and competent QB play I think he has a chance to be as potent an offensive threat as their is in the league.

Also; considering Keenan Allen, Da'Rick Rodgers, Justin Hunter, Robert Woods, and Quinton Patton are still on the board, I think there's still a solid chance at a #1 receiver prospect, and one that with more polish and a higher ceiling than Patterson. Should the Seahawks come away with Harvin and one of the above receivers and I'd take that without hesitation over Patterson at 29.

I really like Allen, Rodgers, and Hunter in the 2nd. Those three specifically fit what Pete likes in a #1, and would be able to contribute early opposite of Rice/Tate with Percy operating out of the slot. Also gives the FA the flexibility to cut/trade Rice or Tate, and adds another weapon to an already very good offense. Could take the unit to another level imo.

There is a reason why Patterson dropped to 29. He doesn't run routes and he doesn't have great hands. When the ball is in his hands he's a freak. But I don't see him having huge rookie year.

Fisher and/or Johnson will be on my madden 25 franchise. I really love Johnson. He is a nasty run blocker and super freaky athletic.

With way too many OL going in the 1st (Frederick????) I think we can add a skill player like a #1 receiver Hunter, Allen to replace Rice. A DT like Jesse Williams/ Hankins. A freak of nature like Margus Hunt (I like the guy). A versatile OL like Barrett. A falling TE Ertz
Or McDonald. Or even a stud LB like Arthur Brown.

Ideally, I'd like to go back to back O-Linemen in the 4th-5th or both 5th's depending on who is there. I think there are a few mid round tackle prospects who could challenge Breno. I also like Bailey and Thornton @ OG.
