Rather than optimistic, I may even call you a little out of touch. I like the optimism, though. If we are dreaming, let's wish for Cooper instead. I think Cooper is going to become very good, while I think Warmack may be less notable. I just think a guy like Cooper has a much higher upside. Smile

haha I think one of them getting to 20 has maybe a 10% chance at most. I'm trying to get myself in the mind frame that i'm going to be disappointed. That way when we pick hopefully i'm pleasantly surprised.

If you always expect the worse you can never be disappointed Wink

I see what you did there Wink

I'd be absolutely thrilled if Cooper fell to us at #20 but just don't see it, looks like he's going to go top 15, maybe top 10.

As I said in the other thread my prediction for our pick is Ogletree. I'd be satisfied with that, not delighted, but it's a much better option than all this Te'o talk which is annoyingly doing the rounds.

Even if one of them did fall - don't be surprised if Phil passes on them. Phil had a quote not to long ago that said (paraphrasing) "At the end of the day its usually the team with more playmakers that wins the game", followed by the quote "the first round is where you find playmakers".

It might just be me, but I don't think Phil see's OG as 'playmakers'.

I think we can definitely agree he does not see OG as a playmaking position. However, I have to think he would take BPA before making a bit of a reach. However, I could be totally offbase with that thinking...and what he considers a reach may be considerably different. That is why he was a successful scout in the business.

True but what playmakers would still be on the board at 20:

Austin is almost a certainty to be gone.
Eifert is looking increasingly likely to be gone.
Patterson might be there and I wouldn't be at all opposed to him.

Apart from that I don't see a playmaker that wouldn't be a reach. Like you said it's unlikely that either of them are there at 20 but if they are and we don't select one i'd be really disappointed.

Personally, I would feel a little more comfortable with a playmaker that is a reach instead of taking Patterson. I don't think we are going to have to worry about that anyway. I think chances are he will be gone by 20.

As much as it would be a disappointment not to know who they were going to pick, it would be great if they could trade out of the first into the top of the second. Great, but not too likely.

This has GOT to be a smokescreen on our part. Go right ahead, MN. Trade with NYG or DAL to grab Manti.

Cordarrelle Patterson; Trestman's new toy.

6'2" and 4.4 speed with elite agility/acceleration; if we get him fully acclimated to the slot, he'll be a deadly weapon unlike, honestly, any other slot guy I can think of in the league right now. It'll be exciting to see the different ways Trestman utilizes him.

To be fair - Patterson is also a body catcher who doesn't really know how to run routes. Exciting kid, will be interesting to see if Emery grabs him if he's there at 20. Most explosive offensive player in the draft outside of Austin.

I don't think anyone with a 4-3 actually wants Te'o in the 1st.

Ravens might want him at 32 if other LB's are off the board.

I think the 3-4 ILB spot is a better fit for Te'o because it allows him more margin for error with another ILB on the field.
