I will preface this by saying that I really believe we will trade down. In fact, I think we make a couple of small trade downs and end up with no 1st rounder at all. However, if we end up sticking at 20, my prediction is:

DJ Hayden CB Houston

Short - DT - Purdue.

Based on nothing at all, which is exactly what I can get from Emery ahead of draft day.

Call me optimistic but I think Chance Warmack.

(when he goes at 19 I will possibly be smashing my TV) Evil or Very Mad

Ifo Ekpre-Olomu didn't declare for the draft, so lets take the other guy.

Rather than optimistic, I may even call you a little out of touch. I like the optimism, though. If we are dreaming, let's wish for Cooper instead. I think Cooper is going to become very good, while I think Warmack may be less notable. I just think a guy like Cooper has a much higher upside. Smile

Understandably, he didn't believe Goodell could pronounce his name - he'll change it to "Tim Timson" and come back next year

I would not be mad if we took Ertz, but I would definitely be mad if it was with the 20th pick. Although, it is a bit irrational because I would not be mad if we took Eifert with #20 and there is not THAT much of a separation between the two.

Disappointment.

haha I think one of them getting to 20 has maybe a 10% chance at most. I'm trying to get myself in the mind frame that i'm going to be disappointed. That way when we pick hopefully i'm pleasantly surprised.

If you always expect the worse you can never be disappointed Wink

Since I do not believe there is the slightest chance that an offensive player drops to us that is a steal, I am hoping a defensive player falls who offers good value. At least if we have to stay at 20, we would have that.

Even if one of them did fall - don't be surprised if Phil passes on them. Phil had a quote not to long ago that said (paraphrasing) "At the end of the day its usually the team with more playmakers that wins the game", followed by the quote "the first round is where you find playmakers".

It might just be me, but I don't think Phil see's OG as 'playmakers'.

Yes. Not that long ago I thought that there was a good chance an O-lineman would fall to us. This draft is just so different from any we are used to that all bets are off concerning how things normally go.
