No football team should be wholly dependent on the health of one player for success. Even if the player is as durable as Eli Manning. A guy like Nassib at least gives the offense a fighting chance if God forbid Eli gets hurt.

What are they thinking trading up for a QB. We have needs and that's not one of them.

Quite simple- value. They had a late first or early second grade on him and he was available in pick 110.

I fail to see value in someone that will never see the field and don't say we can trade them later. If the packers could not trade Flynn we won't be able to trade him.

Then don't view it as value, but rather best player available

I hate the 9ers for being disgustingly deep and taking Lattimore

I tend to agree. And this also forces coughlin to dress three qbs for the season right? Otherwise he goes to the practice squad and could possibly get pilfered.

Value for value's sake makes no sense to me unless you TRULY commit to developing him for 4-5 years. If so, then fine. If not, seems like a foolish pick to me.

http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/8370/ryan-nassib

Quote:
Giants traded up to select Syracuse QB Ryan Nassib with the No. 110 overall pick, sending Nos. 116 and 187 to the Cardinals.Projected by many to come off the board at No. 8 overall, Nassib settles for a competition with David Carr to be Eli Manning's backup. Nassib (6-foot-2 1/8, 227) was a three-year starter in Doug Marrone's shotgun-heavy, up-tempo Syracuse offense, completing 60.3 percent of his passes with a 70:28 TD-to-INT ratio. Rated the No. 1 quarterback in this class by draft gurus Russ Lande and Greg Cosell, Nassib flashes NFL-quality anticipation and can drive the ball at the intermediate level. He is the draft's most accurate passer, and has the quickest release. Nassib's big negatives are his tendency to become frenetic in the pocket and let his deep ball sail.

I think BW Webb is the first pick for us tomorrow.

I like BW here also to go along with the 2 centers (Schwenke and Jones).

Other names for this round: Baccari Rambo, Shamarko Thomas, Da'Rick Rogers, Quinton Patton, David Bakhtiari, Reid Fragel, Marcus Lattimore, Ryan Nassib and Jordan Poyer(to a lesser extent).

Rambo, Rogers, Fragel, and Poyer are still available I believe.

Cooper Taylor. Can't say I have seen him but 6'5 225 LBs Im guessing he will be playing close to the line.

Kiper said that Montgomery was better than Mingo, and he went in the 5th round, so McShay was making fun of him for that

His #s:

Quote:
The large safety put together a good week of practice at the East-West Shrine Game, showing tight angles and awareness in coverage. At Richmond's pro day, Taylor ran the 40-yard dash in 4.58 and 4.49 seconds, had a 36 1/2-inch vertical jump, 10-foot-7 broad jump, 4.29 in the short-shuttle, 6.96 in the three-cone and 23 reps of 225 pounds on the bench press.

Shocked
