OK so for a month now I have had the Eagles set at taking Eric Fisher with the number 4 pick but after listening to Mike Mayock i have decided to
completely change my idea.

1. Chiefs-Luke Joeckel
2. Jags- Eric Fisher
3. Raiders- Shariff Floyd

Now heres where things get interesting. I believe that the Eagles will trade down to the number 12 pick with the Miami Dolphins. The Dolphins get the 4th pick(Lane Johnson) and the Eagles get the 12th, 42nd, and 77th. So I know that your saying that wonít happen, thatís way to much to move up just 8 spots. But according to the draft chart this deal makes sense.

When the 12th pick comes up I believe that once again the Eagles will trade down this time with the Minnesota Vikings for the 23rd and 25th picks. The Vikings move up to 12 to draft Tavon Austin. While some may feel that the Eagles need to be able to get a superstar, they also have many other needs. By making these two trades the Eagles have 6 picks in the first 77 picks of the draft.

So now on to the draft.

At the 23rd pick(1ST ROUND) I have think that there are a number of directions the Eagles can go but I have them selecting E.J. Manuel with their first pick. At this pick virtually every QB will be available. Chip Kelly missed out on Manuel coming out of high school I doubt he lets it happen again.

With the 25th pick(1ST ROUND) the Eagles select CB Desmond Trufant. Even though they signed Fletcher and Williams, the Eagles could use as much help as they can get. However if either Menelik Watson, Kyle Long, or Terron Armstead are taken earlier I could see the birds snatching up one.

With the 35th pick(2ND ROUND) the Eagles select OT Terron Armstead. If he is gone I would have them taking one of the other tackles but this seems like the most likely situation.

With the 42nd pick (Miami)(2ND ROUND) the Eagles select ILB Kevin Minter. While Minter is falling he still was a very good linebacker in college and gives the Eagles depth especially with an aging Demeco Ryans.

With the 67th pick(3RD ROUND) the Eagles select NT Jessie Williams. If your going to run a 3-4 you need two things. 1. Good pass rushers and 2. A big nose tackle. The Eagles signed Sopoaga but Williams gives them depth and will hopefully be the NT for years to come.

With the 77th pick(Miami)(3RD ROUND) the Eagles select CB Tryann Mathieu. Nobody expects Mathieu to go anywhere near the 3rd round but I donít understand why. Mathieu would have been a high first round pick and very well could have been the number 1 pick in the draft. But we all know the story. With a third round pick he would get no guaranteed money and if he were to become a problem cutting him would be very easy.

With pick 101(4TH ROUND) the Eagles select S T.J. McDonald. McDonald gives the Eagles a safety to compete with Allen and Anderson and could work in on special teams.

With the 136th pick(5TH ROUND) the Eagles select OLB Chase Thomas. Kelly has seen plenty of Thomas when he was at Stanford and Thomas would give the Eagles depth.

With the 210th pick(7TH ROUND) the Eagles select WR Denard Robinson. Robinson is listed as a receiver but he can add a lot to the offense including playing a receiver , wildcat QB, running back, and return specialist.

With the 212th pick(7TH ROUND) the Eagles select DE Joe Kruger. I know that many people believe that he goes earlier I feel that he doesnít have a real position and could play many different positions in both a 3-4 and 4-3 defense.

With the 218th pick(7TH ROUND) the Eagles select TE Mychal Rivera. Rivera is a big athletic tight end with good hands. He gives the Eagles an end that can backup an aging Brent Celek.

With the 239th pick(7TH ROUND) the Eagles select C Braxston Cave. Gives the team depth at the interior offensive line position.

Sexier doesn't mean pictures! It means make it easier to tell which round and what pick each guy is getting selected at. I can't tell who's a 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc. Add pics if you want, but also make it easier to just skim through it and see what guys were selected and when.

Ok
I don't really see us ending up with two 1st rounders and two 2nd rounders, but who knows.
The actual picks:
1 EJ Manuel. I don't like him, but the pick makes sense. B-
1 Trufant. Good pick. B+
2 Armstead. Great pick. A
2 Minter. Nothing special. C+
3 Jesse Williams. Don't think he lasts this long. Too early for a back-up NT on a rebuilding team when we still have bigger holes to fill. No grade
3 Mathieu. Don't like him at the NFL level. Going to be a lot more polished cb's available at this point in the draft with better size. Too early for a 4th cb since we just drafted Trufant in the 1st. D
4 McDonald. He sucks. D.
5 Chase Thomas. I don't like him. He's a stiff athlete. D+
7 Robinson. No thanks. If things go bad people will want to try him out at qb and I don't want that media fiasco. I don't see him being a good WR. D.
7 Kruger. He will almost definitely not be avilable after the 5th round. 6th at the very latest. No grade.
7 Rivera. Ok pick. C+
7 Cave. Ok pick. B

The Vikings trade is ridiculous.

No way they would trade both first rounders to move up to 12.

Let's hope your 217th post is better.

"But according to the draft chart this deal makes sense. "
But, according to the Dolphins, it doesn't.
It may be of equal value, bit it does not make sense.

You can't invoke trades using the draft value chart.
"I call draft chart! You have to accept!"
The other team must have cause to do it.
Miami is on the verge of getting Branden Albert for just #42.
Unproven Lane Johnson is not worth that much more.

The Vikings trade is not much better.

Manuel, Mathieu, McDonald, Thomas, Robinson and Rivera are not so good picks.
The value for Williams seems off.
I don't understand why the Eagles would just take any tackle if Armstead is gone.
I also don't see why they'd take Armstead.
Kruger and Cave are OK. Heck, they are 7th rounders. They can't be expected to do anything, so fine.

On the plus side, I do like Trufant.

While I like that we acquire those picks, I doubt those trades happen.

Minnesota might trade up but wont give up both their firsts.

The only picks I like are Trufant, Williams, and Armsteas. Rest are meh.

EJ at 12 is no bueno. Why take Minter at 42 when you could get Kiko or Bostic or Nico posssibly at 67? Matheiu in the 3rd is a reach.

IF that scenario ends up happeninf which is unlikely here's a better draft:

Rd 1: Xavier Rhodes
Rd 1: EJ Manuel
Rd 2: Terron Armstead
Rd 2: Jordan Reed
Rd 3: Kiko Alonso
Rd 3: Duke Williams
Rd 4: Malliciah Goodman
Rd 5: Alvin Bailey

Now THAT would be a draft
even thougg Imnot as high on Manuel.

Take a CB , QB, OT, TE, ILB, S, DE, G ...fills almost all our needs

Could live with that except I don't want ol' Honey Badger anywhere within 5000 miles of this team.
