Magic would be getting Blaine to be a franchise QB _________________

Sure but what im saying is, how could we possibly have the best given where Evans was taken without even practicing in pads right now | Because maybe Caldwell is an evaluator of talent, and that's the feeling he has, having watched every game of these guys, knowing their measurables, and seeing how they look in person? |
Well if he is so great, why did we let him fall? | Because you draft players where they should go. You don't overdraft someone just because you're high on them. Las year, Russell Wison was one of the highest rated guys on the Seahawks board, and yet they passed on him twice. _________________

I understand that, but how exactly do all 32 teams let him fall, we must have been in the minority thinking he was so great _________________

If anything is going too far its saying Evans is the #2 safety in the draft _________________

If anything is going too far its saying Evans is the #2 safety in the draft | And you're reading too much into the statement. They didn't say he was, they said they feel like he is. With all the film they have on him, all the advanced metrics they have on him, all the time they've spent talking to him, the time they have in practice with him, the information they have on how quickly he's understanding the playbook, understanding his role in the defense, understanding what the offense is doing, his instincts and all of that, you think they can't have a positive feeling about him that they got an incredible steal? _________________

far be it from me to agree with JC, in fact i feel kind of dirty about it, but josh evans was simply a solid player in college. he's not the second best safety in the class and i doubt they truly think he is, just some good old fashioned team fluff talk. happens all the time. don't try and read too much sincerity from these type of things _________________

Not sure why it's being read into so much. They watched him play, got a good feeling about him and praised that feeling they got as being a steal. Not sure what all the hubbub is about. _________________

So it turns out that we graded Josh Evans as a day 2 player. We drafted Cyp at the top of Day 2, so given that we already had Lowery and our "draft for need" strategy, it likely bumped Evans down below our need for corner and speed on offense. When he was there in the 6th round, it was probably a case of the talent they think he has trumping that of everyone else to be picked in that area.
So that's why they think they got the two best safeties in the draft. Or two of. Because they thought that before going into the draft. _________________
