The reality is; drafting a quarterback in this draft isn't going to improve this team. Either Gabbert is the answer or next year's first pick will be used on a the guy who should be.

This was my first thought the moment we took Joeckel, this is Gabbert's last chance, plus with Denard and Ace added to MJD, Lewis, CS3 and Blackmon there are no more excuses

I'm so glad we didnt take a QB though, hated most of them outside of Geno

I'm with you except I that i didn't care that much for Geno either. I could have lived with a qb in the later rounds as a guy to develop but I was ok with how it played out.

I'm so stoked we added some speed to this team. I've been wanting this for forever.

Can you imagine JB14, Cecil, Marcedes, Ace and Laces on the field at the same time? hahahaha, so many weapons.

Fantastic job by Dave and company with this Draft. I approve.

This is really how i'm looking at it. And honestly, i'm not really upset with the notion. It makes a ton of sense, and it's kind of where i was leaning prior to the draft anyway.

Geno Smith/Matt Barkley/Tyler Wilson/Mike Glennon/Ryan Nassib/Zac Dysert were not gonna be the miracle that saves this team next year. We're talking about rookies who are at least as raw as Gabbert, and only a year younger for the most part, if at all. And they're already down 2 years of NFL experience and lessons learned on Gabbert...a guy with physical tools and ability that dwarfs any of the others.

Landry Jones...well, he might've saved the day here, but i guess we'll never know. Wink But seriously, i was pretty much alone in liking him, but the upside was there at least...and even still, he's more raw than Gabbert now and actually older! It's a 'devil you know' vs 'the devil you don't' sort of scenario in a sense. Might as well stick this Gabbert project through to it's logical conclusion and make absolutely sure he's not 'The Guy'. Give him every weapon imaginable, hopefully better protection, hopefully a better OC who can work with him and his strengths/weaknesses, and see what comes out the other end.

If Gabbert does a poo in his own bed, well...this team is definitely gonna suck hard enough to be within striking distance of a Teddy Bridgewater. The type of QB who can transform a franchise...or one of the other potentially very good QB prospects next year.

If Gabbert figures it out and takes that next big step...problem solved. We've got out QB after all.

But Gabbert is still a project, make no mistake...and honestly, you can only try so many projects at the QB position at one time. Would trying to groom one of those 'raw guys' behind Gabbert really work out? I mean...if Gabbert is gonna suck...he's gonna suck. And if that happens, whoever our 'project' would've been...thrust straight into the limelight far too early, just like Gabbert.

Time and again, i think people forget just how raw and Young Gabbert really is. It really puts things in perspective though.

I noticed in the Draft Forum there is a rookie numbers thread. Not much mention of the Jaguars though.

Anyone know which numbers the rookies will wear, if it's been decided yet?

Luke Joeckel - #76
Johnathan Cyprien - #37

I posted both in that thread.

I missed Luke's number. I also saw someone post Ace to be 18.

I know it wasn't going to be retired or anything, but I'll be weird to see someone else sporting 27.

So long as 8, 28, 71 and 82 stay off the unis, I'm good.
