I'm working on my mock and can use some help. If this scenario would play out who would the Saints likely choose?

1 Kansas City Joeckel, Luke OT, Texas A&M
2 Jacksonville Jordan, Dion DE, Oregon
3 Oakland Floyd, Sharrif DT, Florida
4 Philadelphia Smith, Geno QB, West Virginia
5 Detroit Milliner, Dee DC, Alabama
6 Cleveland Ansah, Ezekiel DE, BYU
7 Arizona Fisher, Eric OT, Central Michigan
8 Buffalo Mingo, Barkevious OB, LSU
9 New York Warmack, Chance OG, Alabama
10 Tennessee Lotulelei, Star DT, Utah
11 San Diego Johnson, Lane OT, Oklahoma
12 Miami Richardson, Sheldon DT, Missouri
13 New York Vaccaro, Kenny - Texas
14 Carolina Rhodes, Xavier DC, Florida State

Also if it came down to Bjorn or Jarvis Jone who would you choose.

Thanks

Jones without question.

Carradine and Collins could also be possibilities. I think that Werner is good but definitely better fit for 4-3.

Would rather Xavier Rhodes but Jarvis Jones is my 2nd choice.

I'd definitely go Jarvis Jones.

I' not a big Mel Kiper fan but he said something today that jumped out at me that I havn't heard before... We all know the Saints value high character in prospects and Kiper mentioned that on a scale of 1-10, Jarvis Jones character would be a 15.

That's high praise for a dynamic playmaker at a position of need for us... It would be really hard for the Saints to pass on Jarvis.

This!! I would rather have Greer and Robinson battle for the slot. I can even see a package where they move Harper to LB and Greer to S.

Solution...

I love JJ as a prospect and would love to see him with a #92 black and gold on his chest but here is what I can't get out of my mind...

1. Where Rob Ryan has been (DC) that team ALWAYS drafts DB's in round 1 if they went defense.
2. With the Saints aggressive pursuit of Nnamdi, it's clear they still see CB as a need.
3. Rumblings out of Saints camp is that Robinson has lost the coaching staffs confidence (could even be traded).
4. Same rumblings about Greer accept some don't feel he's a good scheme fit.
5. If Rob Ryan could build a CB in a lab... he would come out exactly like Xavier Rhodes.

I take all this into account and I just don't see how (if Ryan has a say) they pass on Rhodes if available (I believe he will be).

I don't think the Saints were very aggressive in pursuing Nnamdi, and giving up on Robinson would be stupid. He looked very good 2 years ago, then he struggled in a zone. Its pretty clear he's just not a zone cover CB.

This. We drafted man corners, not our fault we expected them to fit in a zone. CBs don't win you games.. we need a PASS RUSH. Do you guys forget how terrible our pass rush was last seaon? Including blitzing? All these people that scream for DBs, WRs, or OTs just make me disappointed.

Pass rush & Quarterback are the 2 most important things on a football team. We have NO pass rush and like 3 good corners...

He is on his 3rd DC going into his 4th season. The kid needs to be given some slack. A lot of people are too hard on him. Before the Spags zone scheme, he was looking better with each game.

CBs and pass rushers go hand in hand. Their been times last year where the pass rush got their but the coverage was garbage. Vice versa. Saints need bump n run man to man CB because the scheme requires it. Even though Robinson is good in man to man, he's not a bum n run corner. He also doesn't tackle or even want to tackle.

Galette, Wilson and Butler need starter snaps..

Agreed.

I like Robinson but im not sold on him like others are. Giving him a pass would also require me to give a pass to other defenders I don't feel deserve it, namely Harper & Jenkins. I could argue that for the people saying Robinson is young and developing and suffered from a scheme that dident fit him last season... would you say the same for Malcolm Jenkins?

If that's the case, why plea for a pass rusher when we haven't even seen Butler, Wilson and Galette in this defense yet? Maybe they (Wilson & Galette) suffered from being in a bad defensive fit last season but I don't hear people clamoring for them. Instead I hear PASS RUSHER, we need a PASS RUSHER!!!

This is why I can't give Robinson a pass... you say it's not fair to him not to. I say it's unfair to others if you do and don't do it for them and as far as Im concerned, last seasons defensive output deserves NO pass and ALL (coaches and players) should feel very uncomfortable heading into this offseason.

Patrick Robinson can absolutely lay the wood for a CB. He's not Antoine Winfield but he's certainly an above average tackler.
