We will have all we need to trade up for a QB if we need to in 2014.

You do realize comp picks can not be traded.

Not what he meant.

Wasn't Revis' agent the one laughing at someone for signing a contract with very little garunteed money???? I like irony

it was Brick who killed the market for Jets players since now they would try and get everyone to sign deals like that

I honestly can not read your posts anymore. Brick signed a team friendly deal. Imagine if all players werent greedy like Revis.

Brick signed for 8 years, $73.6 million. That's an excellent deal.

Dam right averaging out to less tahn 10 Mil a year for a left tackle is fantastic.

He has played well so why should we whine about his contract? almost 80m was ludicrous when it was signed.

Factors:

ACL Injury

FA next year, Losing him no matter what after next year and getting compensation in the form of a likely 3rd round pick in '15

Only 1 Team interested in Revis

Owner/Player relationship known to be strained

Outcome

We own 2 of the top 15 picks this year (4 in the first 3 3 rounds) Solid way to start building a team.

We get a 3rd next year.

We DON'T pay a CB $16 million.

We don't lose him for nothing and watch him go to a division rival.

TB gets a CB they need.

Winners Jets, Revis and TB
Losers Fans who were lead to believe TB was going to grossly over pay for a CB given the factors stated above.

This is a good deal for all involved.

THIS. Applause

I love how Revis' health is in question but Carradine is worth a top 20 pick.

I would take him with our second pick in round 2 after we trade down. Not before.

Revis' health really shouldn't be in question. Also, Carradine worked out at his Pro Day yesterday.

Comp picks can't be traded, but let's say the Jets wanted to trade up for a specific player; you can still do so without mortgaging an entire draft...

Say the Jets were to trade their 1st and 2nd to move up for a top player (presumably QB), they'd still have the luxury of another 10 draft picks to work with.

Although comp picks aren't usually high picks (I'm assuming we land a 4, 5, maybe two 6's), they're perfect for building depth for a team. Idzik approached systematically; only 2 of the free agents the Jets signed were "unrestricted" (Goodson and Barnes) because Idzik wants draft picks. Am I upset that we traded Revis? Yes. However, Idzik is taking the "Seattle" approach; he wants to rapidly revamp this roster quickly. From the looks of it, there is a good chance we add 10 players in this draft and another (at least) 10 in next years draft. It's a 180 degree change in philosophy.

I mean he is getting paid top 3 money for LTs, he didn't really take that friendly of a contract.
