With just a few days until the draft, and the general feeling that the Pats will be looking to pick up a WR or two (though, Belichick has been known to pass on positions of need), I thought it would be interesting to see where the forum stood in terms of the prospects. So fill in the blanks:

The WR I hope the Pats draft is:
The WR I hope the Pats do not draft is:
The WR who will fit the Pats scheme is:
The WR who is the worst fit for the Pats scheme is:

If they take a WR in round 1 I hope it is:
If they take a WR in round 2 I hope it is:
If they take a WR in round 3 I hope it is:
If they take a WR after round 3 I hope it is:

If they pass on ___________ in round ____ I will throw my TV out the window:

Rank these WR's the order that you prefer for the Patriots (might not be the overall rank you have them, some guys fit better than others):

Cordarrelle Patterson
Tavon Austin
Quinton Patton
Keenan Allen
Robert Woods
Stedman Bailey
DeAndre Hopkins
Justin Hunter
Aaron Dobson
Markus Wheaton

The WR I hope the Pats draft is: ROBERT WOODS
The WR I hope the Pats do not draft is: JUSTIN HUNTER
The WR who will fit the Pats scheme is: ROBERT WOODS
The WR who is the worst fit for the Pats scheme is: CORDARELLE PATTERSON

If they take a WR in round 1 I hope it is: ROBERT WOODS
If they take a WR in round 2 I hope it is: ROBERT WOODS
If they take a WR in round 3 I hope it is: STEADMAN BAILEY
If they take a WR after round 3 I hope it is: KENNY STILLS

If they pass on ROBERT WOODS in round TWO I will throw my TV out the window:

Rank these WR's the order that you prefer for the Patriots (might not be the overall rank you have them, some guys fit better than others):

Robert Woods
DeAndre Hopkins
Tavon Austin
Quinton Patton
Stedman Bailey
Keenan Allen
Cordarelle Patterson

No Josh Boyce? Forget it, then.

Now for the second part:

Quote:

In order of best fit this upcoming season to worst...

DeAndre Hopkins
Robert Woods
Stedman Bailey
Quinton Patton
Markus Wheaton
Keenan Allen
Justin Hunter
Cordarrelle Patterson
Tavon Austin
Aaron Dobson

Obviously some of the names near the back could be very productive for us in the future, but there is development involved.

Very Happy Great thread, Murts! Wink

The WR I hope the Pats draft is: Justin Hunter - 2nd most talented after Patterson, fits need well, massive upside, should be there at 29.

The WR I hope the Pats do not draft is: Tavon Austin - we need an outside, down field presence, he is almost exclusively inside & after the catch.

The WR who will fit the Pats scheme is: Justin Hunter. The opposite of Austin - purely outside and down field.

The WR who is the worst fit for the Pats scheme is: Tavon Austin

If they take a WR in round 1 I hope it is: Justin Hunter. Instantly the best deep threat we have had since Randy Moss.
If they take a WR in round 2 I hope it is: Deandre Hopkins
If they take a WR in round 3 I hope it is: Terrance Williams
If they take a WR after round 3 I hope it is: Tavarres king

If they pass on HUNTER or PATTERSON in round ONE I will throw my TV out the window

Rank these WR's the order that you prefer for the Patriots (might not be the overall rank you have them, some guys fit better than others):

Cordarrelle Patterson
Justin Hunter
Deandre Hopkins
Markus Wheaton
Aaron Dobson
Kennen Allen
Tavon Austin
Robert Woods
Quinton Patton
Stedman Bailey

Keenan Allen and Robert Woods play very similar styles to Brandon Lloyd, Chad Ochocinco and Deion Branch. I don't want that style again. Quickness in and out of breaks with zero top end speed does not this football team, as we already dominate that part of the field.

We need to place a premium on top end speed & down field ability. Patterson, Hunter, and Hopkins would all challenge for OROY in our offense. Allen, Woods, Patton - would be Brandon Lloyd without the polish or savy.

For the record, other than intelligence, focus (which is helped a lot by intelligence), and a 1/2 step in top speed, 2007's Randy Moss has very little on Justin Hunter physically. Intelligence and focus may not seem physical, but they affected his hands. If Hunter's play oozed overwhelming confidence ala Moss in 2007 (who was literally and figuratively two steps ahead of the defense just about every play), he could be all pro next season. He would add a dimension to our offense which makes us completely indefensible.

What? Cordarrelle Patterson is the only receiver i have been able to follow who is taller than 5'9 and moves like he does. If Patterson gets his game to where it can be & is in the right spot, he will spend the next 10 years next to AJ Green and Julio Jones in the top 3 receivers in football. The top end speed & lateral explosiveness for someone at 6'2 is nothing short of astounding. On a play - by - play basis, nobody else moves like Patterson. It's not close, either. Unless he has the IQ of Forrest Gump, Patterson on double moves will young Moss like automatic in the very near future, quote me.

If the Patriots traded up to say, 20, and got CP? Would never, ever regret it. Seeing Patterson rocket by flat footed safeties would become quite routine.

TV would have gone in round 1. If they passed on him in round 3, I would likely throw myself out of the window.

As long as they come out of the draft with one of Allen, Hunter, Bailey, Woods, Hopkins or Harper, I'd be ecstatic.

He's dumb as rocks. He won't be able to get the playbook down and he'll be as good as Chad Ochocinco and Brandon Lloyd at best IMO. Brady isn't going to trust a guy that he isn't 100% confident in and I don't think Patterson has the mental capacity to create that sort of chemistry with Brady.

I really feel like we're gonna double dip on WRs this year. We don't necessarily need a DE. We have a lot of young projectile guys there with Cunningham, Bequette and Francis. I see us taking two WRs in the same mold we did with Vereen/Ridley and Gronk/Hernandez. A DB, interior lineman, and a DT will be picked up by the other slots.

I'm really feeling any combination between Wheaton/Woods/Bailey.
