either way the team will be just fine.

Not worrying. Just shaking my head.

Every top sports franchise has stability at almost every level. We can't seem to establish it at any level.

Quote:
Appearing on SportsCenter Friday morning, ESPN's Ed Werder reported the NFL is "downplaying the seriousness of the allegations" against Browns owner Jimmy Haslam, and is expecting a full exoneration.

It doesn't appear the league will be asking Haslam to "step aside," as some speculated earlier Friday. The FBI clearly thinks it has a serious case against the trucking company mogul, but things are likely to develop slowly following Thursday's allegations. Haslam has yet to be charged with a crime. Regardless of Haslam's innocence or guilt, the case will remain a major distraction for a league that loathes them until its resolution.

Also, forgot to mention that Cuban is a Steeler fan. He grew up in Mt. Lebanon, which is about 15 minutes from where I'm sitting.

That is just hyperbole EZ.

Quote:
The NFL plans to allow the FBI and IRS investigations into the businesses run by new Cleveland Browns owner Jimmy Haslam to sort itself out before it decides whether it will take any action.

NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said a report that Haslam might be asked to step down as the investigation into Pilot Flying J continues is inaccurate.

"There are no such plans," Aiello said.

I guess I'm not overly concerned...yet.

Guys like Haslam rarely, if ever, get their arse handed to them legally. They've got top shelf law firms and the proper connections for most legal issues to work themselves out.

Haslam's company may get hit hard, but it'll be fine. Haslam may get a slap on the wrist (heavy fines) but he'll more than likely never see the inside of a jail cell.

While all of this looks bad now, I'm guessing it'll blow over soon enough.

Whether or not he gets in serious trouble does not matter. Whether the FBI throws him in jail or not doesn't matter.

Remember how pissed everyone was because Randy Lerner paid too much attention to his soccer team? How much attention do you think Haslam can pay us when he's got to deal with the FBI?

Im not one for sensationalism but if you aren't worried then I think you are being too optimistic. Nothing good can come from this, nothing. Even in the best case scenario we have an owner who looks like a fraud and 31 other general managers are going to use that pitch to keep players from wanting to sign here.

Worrying accomplishes nothing good.

And players want to win, they don't care if the owner is a fraud if he has a team that can win.

I wasn't worried about Lerner.

The owner needs to pay the bills. Lerner always did that. I can't remember one time I felt like he did something just to save a dime.

Haslam has hired Banner who has in turn hired Lombardi, Farmer and Chud to run this team/franchise. Haslam has little to nothing to do with the football end of it. As long as the bills get paid, I honestly don't care what Jimmy Haslam is doing, just like I didn't care about Lerner's soccer fetish.

I also never said any good will come from this, I'm just not going to do the typical Cleveland fan Chicken Little routine just yet. Don't let me stop you though.

A lot of folks care about a lot of things that have little to nothing to do with anything. Not much I can do about that.

If you can provide even one instance where his preference in entertainment led to a Cleveland Browns win or loss, I'd be happy to play along, but until then this appears to me as nothing more than folks with too much time on their hands looking for a reason why the Browns sucked other than the team just not being very good.

His soccer team is just as bad as the football team was... And many of their fans are pissed too.
