Draft will now be in May, starting in 2014.

Boo.

Why?

What's the upside? I'd think most fans already feel like they have to wait forever once the season is over for the draft to take place. What does pushing it back a few weeks help?

I don't think there is any benefit from a football standpoint. I think the NFL just wants a "major" event in every month of the year. By spreading out the offseason, they'll have pretty much the whole calendar covered.

It doesn't really benefit the fans or the players or the coaches.

If the draft is in May, what's the 'major' event in April?

It's the only pic of a bulldog with a hammer on the Internet I could find.

Not sure, but I think it's something like this:

Feb: Super Bowl
Mar: Combines, Prospect bowl games
Apr: Free agency
May: Draft
Jun: Summer barbecues at Roger's house
Jul: Training camps
Aug: Preseason

I have heard they want to turn free agency into a TV event as well. They want free agency to start but be kept secret. Then have a big tv special a few days after it started anouncing where the big free agents have signed.
I think that is stupid and no way it works in this era of social media.

http://preps.ocala.com/news/article/46204/hearns-wolf-pack-moving-forward/

Tomorrow is our spring game vs. the team above, the article doesnt mention that the three kids that got the D1 offers are in trouble of not graduating due to there GPA's... and the fact that they were holding practices a month too soon and that they were violating the county's rule on how many hours we can practice each week... I hate the media in our area, they are soooo quick to report anything bad on us-- How their players have been going around trying to start fights with our kids at the places they work, how they are trying to parents of my kids saying we dont get kids in school, wait did we not send 9 kids last year to FULL scholarships.. yea come get some --- OH I CANT WAIT TILL 7 o'clock tomorrow night so we can but them in their place!
Evil or Very Mad these are just the times I wish I could actually go out and play lol....
