McLendon is 6-4 and preposterously listed by the Steelers as weighing 280. He said he weighed that as a junior at Troy. He weighs 325 today.

Did some digging...

How the heck do all these viable websites have him 40 lbs less than his real weight?

Just read some Steelers forums (not on this site). I think linking is breaking the rules, but Steeler fans seem to REALLY want to keep him.

Sign Matthews, then Rodgers, then McLendon. Profit.
Exciting offseason.

This is a TT-esque move.

Would be a prudent, sneaky-smart signing IMO.

Would signing McClendon hurt our comp picks? Or does he not count as a FA signing??

Yeah, this kind of pick up makes a lot of sense.

I do beleive it would count when comp picks are given out. Honestly though it won't make a difference. Won't be anywhere close to enough money to offset Jennings and Walden. Overall, a lot of Packer fans seem to get a little to caught up in the comp picks.

Don't know much about the guy, but think if he's a talented player, this would be a great move on TT's part. I think too many NFL GMs have been giving RFAs tenders that are lower than their skill level simply because no other teams really seem interested in signing other teams' RFAs. Taking advantage of Pittsburgh's lousy cap situation would be very opportunistic.

Would cost about $1.5 - 2mil to sign, he has a $1.3million tender right now.

Pittsburgh would have to restructure some contracts to sign him, yes?

I think it's because it's all we end up with in the end! Bunch o comp picks.

Would love to hear what the inside of that Pitt room is thinking right about now. They are in a rough spot.
