So much for those "Miami is guaranteed to trade up" rumors Laughing

Assuming this happens, of course.

Big plus if it's the Colts pick.

Question, is Albert not very good?

Why do they want to replace him so bad?

No! Miami needs to keep that 2nd so they can trade up with the Eagles.

I think it is. The earlier rumor that the Chiefs wanted a high 2nd made sense if they're negotiating with Miami, and the Dolphins refuse to give up their own 2nd in return.

My guess is money.

I am not big on the idea of trading Albert and then turning around and drafting his replacement #1 overall. I guess the best option outside of the offensive tackles is Star Lotulelei.

Ya I don't really get it.

Word is the Phins trying to offer their second second round pick as well.

Doesn't make sense to me.

This is how I see it...

a) Albert needs a new contract, and the Chiefs seem somewhat unwilling to give it to him. Albert is good, but not great, but I think he wants to be paid like he is.

b) The Chiefs are pretty much stuck with the 1st overall pick. The top OTs are really the only ones worth the pick, so in this case they trade Albert for what will likely be a 2nd round pick, draft his long term replacement with the first overall pick, dont have to give Gilbert a huge contract, and get a guy who has potential to be an elite OT, which Albert does not IMO.

This is dumb on the part of the Chiefs IMO.

Albert and Joekel (hypothetically anyways) are both good left tackles.

Would you rather have a good LT and the #1 overall pick?
Or would you rather have a good LT and a 2nd round pick?

Easy answer IMO.

Might have everything to do with money. Perhaps Albert's demands are simply way more than the Chiefs feels comfortable paying, Joeckel will be a cheaper alternative for 3-4 years and seems to have a decent amount of upside to be as good, if not, better than Albert.

When you're going to lose that LT to free agency a year from now, you get what you can from him. If you can get an early 2nd round pick, you do it in a heartbeat and replace that second round pick they stupidly gave up for Alex Smith.

I would assume this would be a fallback in case they're not able to swing a deal to land one of the top three offensive tackles.

Would be a smart move for Miami. Protect your QB.
