Went back 3 pages and didn't see a thread (sorry if I missed it) but while looking for contract details I found this nugget:

"NFL.com's Ian Rapoport confirms the Packers will explore an extension with LE B.J. Raji this offseason"

http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/5210/bj-raji

He's slated to make 4.5 million this year. For comparisons sake, Wilfork is set to make 6.5.

As I've been reading through threads, it seems as though people have this thought he's going to leave and that he's due a "huge pay raise." Wilfork is one of the best NT's in the league, and he only makes 2 million more per than Raji. So it's not like BJ is in line for a huge raise.

In short, I don't see Raji going anywhere.

Exactly. People were worried about losing him, he was a top 10 pick getting paid well. He wont see much of a pay raise. We should be able to keep him IMO. I think Raji is underrated around here and just in general. Dude was an ANIMAL at the end of last year!

Raji is absolutely worth extending because Nose Tackles are unlike other positions in that they regularly get better with age. For most positions, you've seen about the best a guy can give you by the end of his first contract, or shortly thereafter, but NTs frequently continue to improve well into the latter parts of their careers.

So you absolutely resign Raji, since you haven't even gotten the best out of him yet. The movement skills will diminish, but he'll make up for that in other ways.

And TT loves his athletic bigs to boot. Raji isn't going anywhere.

Raji is going to age VERY well. I would not think twice about paying that man. Hell, he is not even in his prime yet IMO.

what is the franchise tag number for a DT?

We have that option if negotiation doesn't work.

Think it is $9-10m.

And Raji should be making about 9 per year, in my opinion. That is fair value for both him and the team. Small increase. Hopefully he doesn't get a big head and want to test FA.

smetana34, in the future please use a clear title to convey the thread's direction to keep any confusion away.

Thanks.

Whoa, Raji, Clay, Rodgers and maybe Shields that would be the off-season of any team without question!! But TT is still vastly overrated of course.

Would much rather see Shields get his extension before Raji. That said, hope they both get done. Raji, being a high pick, won't be to much of an increase in salary so his contract shouldn't be to hard to fit in.

What?

You can find a starting CB. Good luck finding a Raji. Your lucky if one of "those guys" comes out each year. More times than not there are a hand full of starting CB's in each draft class. Get one or two in FA each year as well. NT's are like LT in terms of FA. Ya just about never see them on the market until the body is beat to hell and back. TT seen Pickett and jumped all over him. Might not have been a better one hit the market since also.

To go with what Palmy said, every year there are a couple new "top 10" CBs that absolutely kill the competition. Yet the next season they are back to the middle of the pack among their peers.
