I see him as a pass rush specialist, at his age, switching to a 4-3 SAM doesn't seem like it will work to me. He really screwed up by refusing the steelers pay cut a month ago

I like the signing. There are some obvious issues such as pass coverage when he's playing SLB. The thing I like most about this move is the attitude that Harrison brings to the defense. It's a good defense but you need a little fear factor which I think Harrison brings.

Seeing him knock the snot out of some RBs, WRs and QBs will be good for our defense.

Health is going to be an issue as well but I'm not expecting him to play a lot of snaps so it might not be as big of a deal...

Seriously. Oh well, he's washed up as heck and probably won't even be healthy enough to play when we face the Bengals Laughing

I'll also add, I wish we would have added Dansby instead. Oh well...

First off all, he is not "washed up as heck". He isnt the same pass rusher he once was but is still a force vs the run, which will likely be his main duty.

Secondly, he missed the first month of last season while he recuperated from surgery. He was 100% by the end of the year. He is not a guy who gets injured all the time.

Is he the James Harrison from 2007-2009? No, but he doesnt have to be to help the Bengals.

If anything, the main concern should be his ability to learn a new defense. As Ive stated, it took him 4 years to really learn LeBeau's.

Good signing by the Bengals. Not sure how he'll fit in a 4-3 defense but I would trust Zimmer to find a way to make it work. I think he still has something left to offer and playing in the AFC North against the two teams he has the biggest chip on the shoulder with (Pittsburgh and Baltimore) will be a little added motivation for him. I expect somewhere between 6 and 10 sacks from him next year.

Definitely a good signing. I don't see too much trouble with him transitioning to a 4-3. I assume on passing downs, he'll either come off or rush a good portion of the time, so it won't be much of a problem. Especially considering as a Steeler, he was usually rushing about 2/3 of the time, and covering about 1/3, so he isn't exactly a normal 3-4 OLB in how much he covered.

See I don't think he is washed up or injury prone. However, learning a new defense is the one worry I would have for him.

Harrison seems more like a Marvin Lewis signing than a Zimmer signing. Harrison fits the mold of the SLB that Marvin has been looking for since the Bowlare days that's he's tried with Pollack, Lawson, Moch and others...
