Just draft a RB in the mid rounds Rex! Laughing

The Jets and the first and only team in the history of the NFL to trade a mid-round pick for a player instead of drafting one. Yep. Never happened before ever.

Ivory is better than any RB in the draft this year. He is an absolute monster with an unbelievable combo of speed/power. One of the best backs in the NFL at breaking tackles, and has the speed to go the distance. He also has low wear on the tires in terms of career carries. Why do the Saints want to get rid of him? They are blessed with abundance at RB, could use draft picks, and cap space. Ivory is also more of a ground and pound type running back...and is not the best scheme fit for the Saints.

Ivory is not without his negative. Because he dishes out lots of pain...he also gets injured often. I don't believe at this point that he is proven enough to be a fulltime back. He also has not been used much in the passing game for the Saints. He has caught a few passes and made lots of YAC, but it was not something the Saints asked from him. He also is not the best as a blocker, though he has improved some.

So...if you are looking for a ground and pound RB who can split carries...there really aren't many backs in the NFL who are more talented at doing that. Very simliar back to Peterson/Lynch in the way he runs the football. There is risk in regards to injury, but if you are willing to risk it the returns could be massive.

I think that 3rd/4th round compensation sounds about right.

We have drafted a RB in rounds 3-6 in every single draft Rex has been here for. Why not get a vet who is probably than most of these backs?

I don't think Ivory will ever play a complete season. In his rookie season alone he had about 6 different injuries, including three in one game. If he could stay healthy he's one of the best pure runners in the game. He's not particularly good at anything else but boy can he run!

The first word he ever spoke was ouch. When he took his first steps he knocked over three bigger kids. But he didn't walk again for three weeks.

I'm a big Ivory fan but you have to look at the fact that you're getting a rookie for cheap for 4 years vs Ivory who needs a new deal after 1. For a RB, 4 cheap years is HUGE. That's where the value lies.

I would probably give up a 4th for Ivory in GB though.

Something tells me he is going to collect a few 15 yarders this year.

Jets have made an offer for Saints RB Chris Ivory, who signed his RFA tender today. #NYJ still wants to trade for him, per sources.

I think he will become a jet. I would love this move. I think Idzik want to make him our version of Marshawn Lynch.

You're right. Nobody trades draft picks for players, ever, let alone a RB.

Honestly, the closer we get to actually trading him, the more upset I get. He runs like a man on a mission, trade Ingram instead and give Ivory the carries he deserves. He's going to run for at least 1200 yards in NY if he stays healthy, I wouldn't be surprised at all to see him make the Pro Bowl next year. Crying or Very sad
