Wasn't too bad coming out of Oklahoma when he was taken by the 49ers. Looks like we are stacking up on guys at positions of need to boost the competition. And that is a good strategy like someone else mentioned. We don't want to be stuck giving out a "scholarship" for a rookie (either drafted or UDFA) that doesn't earn it. This way best man wins. And it looks like there is a focus improving out special teams too.

In saying that I like the signing I must caution that I like the fact that we have a plan.

***disclaimer to the grumps that don't like the fact that we like Reggie's moves***

Carry on.

I know you are referring to me and I never said I didn't like the moves Reggie has made. I'm in his corner. I just didn't get the hype of Jenkins on this forum as if he was the answer to a major secondary hole.

Hahahaha!!! Laughing

You know better than anyone else that there is always goimg to be hype at this time of year. Especially when you sign a former Pro Bowler at a position of need. You just see it differently than everyone else. Jenkins is not a slot CB. It actually takes a different skill set. Add that to the fact that his playing time was sporadic and you get the type of results that you saw last year. If he wins the spot and is "the guy" I think he will be just fine. If not, he may not even be here.

But damn dude don't pee in our corn flakes for being excited by the signing. With the cap and filling the roster Reggie is showing that he has a real plan. And compared to what we have been used to I would say that he is killing FA. Subjective? Yes of course.

I remember people telling me that he was a pretty good backup and they thought he would amount to something this season since he got so much PT last season. At one point, some people thought he was LOL.

He was a good team player and system fit. Not enough talent though.

7 picks in two years. Not bad considering he is apparently Satan nowadays.

More than Huff and Branch combined. Only had 2 last year, but had 5 the year before.

I'd say 5 of those picks were Hall type picks where he was very out of position and it was a poorly thrown ball.

He actually had a knack for jumping plays sometimes. I think I remember like 3 of them being those situations you're bringing up, but I think him being awful at a lot of other things affects fans' memories of the turnovers he created. It was the only thing he didn't completely suck at.

49er fans actually had good things to say about him. Seems like a solid pick up

The sick diving INT he made vs Denver and the one in Minnesota are the ones I remember. Then there was the one vs the Chargers where Jackson didn't even fight for the ball.

I'll give him credit on a couple I remember but I didn't think it was any beyond that hahaha. I've never been a fan of the guy and I'm glad he's gone. We have decent depth now we just need the hard part: Starters LOL
