Camp body I imagine.

Gotta love the flurry of activity the last few days, though.

Also, I really wish I had a physical copy of Raiders contract. Because that is a cool picture. Cool

Wasn't too bad coming out of Oklahoma when he was taken by the 49ers. Looks like we are stacking up on guys at positions of need to boost the competition. And that is a good strategy like someone else mentioned. We don't want to be stuck giving out a "scholarship" for a rookie (either drafted or UDFA) that doesn't earn it. This way best man wins. And it looks like there is a focus improving out special teams too.

In saying that I like the signing I must caution that I like the fact that we have a plan.

***disclaimer to the grumps that don't like the fact that we like Reggie's moves***

Carry on.

Competition to weed out who can play and who can't. Don't mind it at all.

Fully expect us to be DB happy in the later rounds as well.

And I can see a flury of UDFA CB signings after the draft is over too. Gotta get those camp numbers up to find those diamonds in the rough.

Quote:
Raiders agreed to terms with S Reggie Smith, formerly of the Panthers. Smith, 26, was out of football last year after being one of the final cuts in Panthers camp. The No. 75 pick of the 2008 draft is a career-reserve and special teamer. Smith will add depth to arguably the weakest roster in the league.

Camp body for sure.

Played for Tarver and Lynn. With our current depth at S, i'd say he has a chance to make the team.

I know you are referring to me and I never said I didn't like the moves Reggie has made. I'm in his corner. I just didn't get the hype of Jenkins on this forum as if he was the answer to a major secondary hole.

I'd rather see Stuart Schweigert than Gio.

I have an irrational hate of Gio though.

You know, that was the first thing I thought of too. The first player I compared Gio to was Schweig. I'd take Gio every day of the week over him though. At least Gio got picks.

i like it, he should easily make our roster.

ENOUGH with these signings Reggie! i don't want to improve too much and miss out on a top 3 pick next year! you're starting to scare me.

+1. He at least made some plays for us. As bad as he was in coverage at times he had a nose for taking the ball away at least.
