a factor in all of this will be that Antoine is a very dedicated husband and father, having married his wife 15+ years ago when they were still in college, and his kids are in school in Minny. where he and his wife also operate charities to help single moms get job training and life skills.

moving away from his family and established routine, and living a back and forth lifestyle, will be difficult. but he might very well do it too. Matt Birk (father of five) found himself in the same situation.

hopefully we'll all know something soon.

I forget that Antoine was a Buffalo Bill at one time. Seems like a lifetime ago, I was a little runt then.

Leslie Frazier told the St. Paul Pioneer Press on Sunday that he has regularly called and texted Winfield in the four weeks since the Vikings released him, just to let him know that they would still like to have him on the team if they can come to terms on a new contract.

Frazier: “We’re all human. We all like to know we’re wanted. I’ve tried to make that clear to him. I’ll let him know, ‘If you’ve got any questions, you know how to reach me.’ I don’t know what direction he’s leaning, but I’m hoping he’ll come back and be a Viking. But with or without Antoine, we would have to look at bringing some guys in, in this draft."

Would be nice if they could get Kam Chancellor's contract done. I think the key to this team is still the secondary. I think these guys would sacrifice a little money to continue playing with each other, and that's what Pete Carroll and John Schneider have already suggested. If one guy is not taken care of, though, I think we could see each guy just going for as much as they can get, here or elsewhere, especially with all these free agents coming in.

If he leaves Seattle I doubt he signs here. When we sign guys it's usually a 1-time visit where they fall in love with everything and don't even consider leaving. I think we have a great chance to get him.

And guys, we don't need to fill every need in free agency Laughing

True, Although guys we get in FA have been talked to before FA most likely so its easy to hammer out a contract Winfield is a bit of a surprise cut.

Is that really a top priority though when your most likely only going to sign a 1 or 2 year deal to play else were at his age?

Hopefully he can replicate the sort of production that Lawyer Milloy had in his last year in the league.

ESPN’s Ed Werder reports that veteran free agent cornerback Antoine Winfield is close to agreeing to contract terms wit the Seattle Seahawks.

However, Ian Rapoport of NFL.com is reporting that the Minnesota Vikings, Winfield’s former team, is making a late push, and the veteran corner is weighing the two offers.

Not official yet, don't get your hopes up.

And if this happens does this mean Marcus Trufant is done here?
