I know we have Locker and just signed Fitz but what do you think of taking a QB early in the draft to develop in case Locker doesnt pan out?

I think with our free agency spending, we opened up the possibility to take a few chances in the draft.

I wouldnt be opposed to take a QB with our 3rd comp pick.

We have bigger needs. I would not like it.

Agreed. Plus I wouldn't take any of the QBs in this draft over Locker at this point.

Ib4 UT fans say, let's take the druggie Bray. Laughing

Bray never failed a drug test?

He threw beer bottles at people but he never failed a drug test.

Im not saying he didnt do them, just saying he never failed them.

I think he is the most talented QB in this class but he is a headcase and I dont want him.

I think Manuel will end up being the best QB in this class. (He goes 2nd round though)

I kinda feel you on it Deeeeej, but I have to agree with TTB on this one. We do have bigger needs elsewhere. You have to remember that, with the exception of Levitre and Shonn Greene, most of our FA signings are basically upgraded stopgaps. We still need to draft some young guns at the other positions to give them a year or two to learn under the FA veterans.

Maybe there's a Russell Wilson in this class Shocked

For real, if I was a GM, I would take a QB every year. You never know.

I wouldnt mind us taking a QB in the 4th, Zac Dysert is a player I really like and could develop into a very good QB. I want a TE with our comp pick Wink

I hate the idea. I don't agree with drafting a QB in the top three rounds unless you have a pressing need. Otherwise, those rounds are for players who will become superstars and help the current team win. I don't believe in wasting a high pick on someone who won't be able to help your current QB win games.

I'm not convinced that Locker is the answer, but you can't simultaneously try to give him every chance to succeed and then waste a 2nd round pick on a backup plan. Not to mention, the days of grooming a QB for 3 years are long gone. QBs are more able to step in and produce right away. So worst case, if Locker fails this year, we grab a QB high in next year's draft and go from there.

Im against it as well i think Guard WR and any where on defense are bigger needs in the first 3 rounds than a QB at this point. If where gonna sink with Locker then next years the year to invest in a QB

there is no Russel Wilson in this class. His QB skills were evident the only thing that pushed him out of the early part of the first round was his height. He appeared to be to short to play in the NFL. The QB's in this class aren't even close to his skill level.

Would be dumb and a waste of a draft pick. If locker fails this year, the coaching staff wont be around to develop this hypothetical rookie QB. And whose to say the new coach would want the QB we took high this year? This regime will ride or die with Locker, no point in a development pick.

I think there's a zero % chance it happens. While there could be the right guy, and there's some intriguing prospects, Munchak and Webster know this is all or nothing for them. They know they have to win this year, and quickly. They can't afford a slow start. That's why I'm assuming we've been so active in free agency. This is potentially the last year of Munchak's reigns in Bud's eyes unless there's dramatic improvement. That's why I don't think they can afford the luxury of drafting and developing a middle round QB prospect.
