With the division, I don't think we'll agree to send a pick for Washington this year. From what I understand, they're trying to ship him and a pick for a 5th rounder. So, to me, it seems there isn't much interest there.

Him and a future seventh for a fifth. Which is the exact same value as our proposed trade with you guys.

Not the only players we should consider but just the first few that come to mind at positions of need.

Pass Rushers

Joe Kruger-DE-Utah-Giant guy. Great athlete. Solid but unspectacular #s. Made more splash plays than consistent ones. Tremendous upside with good coaching.

David Bass-MWSU-Dominated lower competition with 39 career sacks. Stood out Shrine week.

Michael Buchannon-DE-ILL-Great upside. Needs polishing but great physical tools.

Tight Ends

Dion Sims-TE-MSU-Great blocker and solid receiver. Very similar prospect to Brandon Myers but better body and upside.

Levine Toilolo-TE-Stanford-6'8" balanced tight end overshadowed by the talent at Stanford. Could compete to start immediately and provide solid blocking with a HUGE red zone target.

Joseph Fauria-TE-UCLA-6'7" target with 12 touchdowns last year. Matchup nightmare. Solid pass blocker but not great in the run game.

Offensive Line

Ricky Wagner-OT/OG-WIS-Played tackle in college but could play guard for us. Great technique but gets beat by edge rushers. Not a problem at guard. Could be graded as a top 100 player.

Manase Foketi-OG-WTA&M-Stood out at Kansas State but had to transfer. Big man with some comparisons to Iupati.

I like what I'm finding on some of these guys. Someone like Toilolo or Fauria would do well in our offense.

RDE - Mincey, Carter, Crawford
LDE - Houston, Hunter

Are we giving up on Crawford or someone else or going with six DEs?

We're going to be shooting for a 90 man roster so we wouldn't be giving up on anyone. I'm pretty sure pass rusher was considered one of our biggest needs coming into this thing. I understand Mincey was worth adding but does that fill the need? All of the guys listed have considerable upside. We're not gonna scare any QBs with the current depth chart. Outside of TE I'd still list pass rusher as our biggest need.

Five of the six guys on our DE depth chart wouldn't make many rosters.

Ya of course shoot for a 90 man roster.

But we have some depth holes to fill else where and some serious points that need competition. FS, TE, MLB, WR, OG, would all trump a DE at this point. Especially because none of the guys jump off the page.

None?

I think we need more depth everywhere.

If none of the listed players interest you who does?

I'm not saying we need to take a pass rusher here, I'm presenting options of good players at positions we need. We need a lot.

I've got to agree with Darth on this. As I mentioned before, this is the 6th round and these guys are just prospects who MIGHT be able to play well eventually. I disagree with your earlier statement that 5 of our 6 DEs wouldn't make most rosters; I think Houston, Mincey, Hunter, and probably Carter would. Sure I'd like more pass rush, but the guys you mention aren't going to do that better than our top four guys at the position.

I know we are going for a 90 man roster, but I think it would be good to see where our projected 53 stand at this point so we don't use our limited remaining picks in areas where we're okay:

QB - Flynn, Pryor, Henne
RB - McFadden, Bell, Jennings
FB - Reece, Olewale
WR - Moore, Ford, Williams (or Session)
WR - Streater, Criner
TE - Ausberry, Gordon, Shuler
LT - Fisher, Slowey
LG - Barnes (played here the first year with the team), Nix
C - Wisniewski, Parsons
RG - Briesel
RT - Veldheer, Barron

Total offense = 25 (3 QBs, 5 RBs, 5 WRs, 3 TEs, 9 OL)

RDE - Mincey, Carter, Crawford
NT - Sims, Jenkins
UT - Walker, Bilukidi
LDE - Houston, Hunter
WLB - Burris, Maiava
MLB - Roach, Goethel
SLB - Kevin Burnett, Kaelin Burnett
CB - Porter, Hansen, Francies (or Chekwa)
FS - Young, Ross, Nakamura
SS - Branch, Smith
CB - Jenkins, Adams

Total defense = 25 (9 DL, 6 LBs, 10 DBs)

K - Janikoski
P - King
LS - Jon Condo

Total specialists = 3

Red = must upgrade
, blue = would be nice to upgrade

Actually, it would be nice to upgrade everybody, but we have limited resources this year. I think we need to get a TE, a WR, and an OG/OT. I could accept the guys in blue because they fill the fringe positions: the 9th DL (most 4-3 teams carry only eight), 6th LB, backup FB; if improved, okay, if not, not a problem. So I would use the three 6ths on a TE, WR, and OL, and fill in the rest of the 90-man roster with UDFAs.

None of the players we pick up from here on are going to compete for starting positions, with the exception of the TE. Most will be lucky to make the roster. That's why I can't see why we're passing up a starting WR for one of those guys.

Like I said before, I think we should pick at #172 today (Id like to add one of the tight ends) and then see what's at #176. If there isn't someone we can can agree on, then we see if we want to send it for Washington. They've got nothing, they're trying to sell him for whatever they can get. I don't particularly care about getting him. Pick at #176, trade it for Washington, all the same to me.

I need someone to make the pick as it goes on the clock.

I can do it. Who should we pick? I vote for OT Ricky Wagner.

Well Sims and Buchanon have been taken.

I think we should be taking BPA here as we've got needs all over the place. I'm hearing a lot of "we shouldn't take" but no suggestions of players to pick. Negativity isn't much help.

It seems we're going TE here so I'd vote....

Toilolo
or
Fauria

Toilolo would have a better shot to compete as a starter as he's a better blocker. Fauria might have more impact in the passing game.

SDRF I totally missed your post. I didn't mean to ignore that you wanted to go Wagner. I'm fine with any of the players discussed. I gotta go to work too. I think this pick is gonna be yours to make SDRF.

Fauria makes sense as he could be seen as a WR/TE hybrid.

With the 172 pick in the 2013 FFMD II draft, the Oakland Raiders select:

Joseph Fauria, TE, UCLA
