Since salary caps mean nothing in this I say no to Harper. A 6th round pick for a starting SS isn't enough. There is no player close to his worth on the field in the 6th round and it just makes a hole that has to be filled. If salary caps mattered I would say yes, but they don't so no.

I agree with this. With no free agency and no money concerns we might as well keep Harper.

Valid point, but Harper is still taking a roster spot. If we draft a S (I see all of the top ones as SS) in round 1 or 2. Your not gonna sit a top round pick. I don't see our staff benching Harper. In other words if we keep Harper I don't think we can get a saftey in an early round.

Without money though I would want a higher pick for Harper.

Totally forgot that there's no cap..

No to the Harper deal, with that in mind.

All in favor?

Lets flip this team into a defense heavy team!

Aye! First stop. What can we get for Marques Colston, Jahri Evans and Jimmy Graham?

Send Jahri to the Rams for their 1st (pick 22) and 2nd (pick 46).
Send Graham to Arizona for their 1st and 3rd.
Send Colston to the Raiders for their 1st and 6th (pick 172).

If anyone inquires about Brees it should be their entire draft class, or their 1st, 4th, and 7th and their best defensive player.

From there, actually USE the picks or give them to other teams for proven defenders.

I'm on board if Porter22 is on board. Might as well make it interesting, not like it carries into next year! That's what I did with a mock I did a few months ago. I think I traded Graham, Colston, Sproles, and our top pick. Everyone said I was making bad trades (I'm sure I was), but at the end of the day, I liked our roster. Laughing

I'm sorry but were not getting a top 5 pick for Colston, maybe the Raiders 2nd rounder.

How about Colston and Brees to Houston for Schaub and JJ Watt, Watt = Brees and Colston = Schaub.

We keep Graham.

Send Jahri Evans to St. Louis for Roger Saffold and their 1st round pick.

Yup that's about it. I could live with those trades couldn't you?

Lions offered us a 7th for Turk McBride. I vote yes.

I think that's a no brainer. He's tecnechly a free agent still so it's just like we are getting a free 7th rounder. Even if we were to resign him I don't think he has a spot in the 3-4.

McBride is actually a Bear, so nevermind. The Chiefs have shown interest in Brees. Preliminary talks have involved the #1 overall pick, Tamba Hali and Alex Smith.

That's not a bad start at all for those talks. Any chance we can get Derrick Johnson added in?

Only D players I wont give up are DJ, Flowers, Berry, Poe, and Houston.

Me no likey that. I just feel like we would still need more than that as going from Brees to Smith is a huge drop off, even with the #1 pick but there's no consensus player that we would absolutely need at that pick and would likely end up having to trade it away as well. At least with Derrick Johnson as well we'd be looking better and could take a player that's not a huge need.
