49ers 2013 picks

{1.31}

As he played inside and out in a multiple-front Purdue defense, Short has the experience and skills to be versatile in this defense. He has the strength, anchor, and quickness to play at NT and DE. Short racked up over 40 tackles for loss and 18 sacks in his last 3 seasons... so this man gets in the backfield and disrupts frequently. Ranked #29 on my BB.
{2.34}

Justin Hunter is the perfect complement to Mike Crabtree. Crabtree is a YAC-possession WR underneath, and Justin Hunter is the ideal 6' 4" 4.4 speed Split End across from him. Kaepernick will have a field day with this new toy to play with. Hunter's size and ridiculous vertical will pay immediate dividends to our RZ troubles, and will force opposing defenses into madness. Crabtree, Hunter, Vernon Davis, Boldin... oh my... Can you say RING #6 ? Ranked #25 on my BB.
{2.37}

I know... Cyprien has lots of love and hype... but let's face it... Swearinger really is the superior safety for this defense. He has experience at FS, SS and even played NCB for the Gamecocks. How's that for versatility? Swearinger plays with Goldsonesque tenacity, and will make not paying Dashon a very wise decision. Ranked #37 on my BB.
{3.74}

McDonald presented good value here for us, and Vance has the superior receiving skills to make us quickly forget about Walker's departure. He can block as adequately as Walker, once he gets to focus on the playbook. Celek is not forgotten, but will have to battle hard for snaps in 2013 or step aside.
{4.131}

Justin Smith won't be around forever, so the 49ers handpick Catapano as his potential successor. Catapano put up excellent production at Princeton, and further opened eyes on his pro day.. showing great strength and quickness. He's a pass rush terror, and has the work ethic to develop into a quality starter. This move also can allow our first rd pick to focus more attention inside at NT.. where he would be an even better fit.
{5.149}

No secret that the 49ers could use some OT depth here, and we take the BPA there in Nixon. Unless he greatly impresses at LT, he would likely stay as Davis' backup at RT. Boone still may have to kick out to LT if Staley misses time.. but at this point, that was pretty unavoidable. Perhaps Nixon will indeed impress enough for us to feel comfy with him as a LT option. For now, I like him as solid RT depth to develop. This move also allows Boone to focus on one less emergency position.
{6.175}

Pure value pick that can give our young and unproven #2 some real competition in camp. Jones is accurate and has decent enough mobility to execute this offense. I have him as a late 3rd round value, so what the heck, why not?
{6.180}

At this point, the Niners are ready to swing for the fences for potential and value. We feel Mauti is a stud LB, and would have been a day 2 pick, if not for the knee injuries. He has recovered very well by now, and will be a fantastic depth LB for us. Mauti is an intense, well-rounded backer with an inspirational perseverance. We won't need to ask much of him right away, so he has plenty of time to heal up fully and digest Fangio's scheme.
{7.227}

12. Seventh round: comp --------------- # 246
13. Seventh round: comp --------------- # 252

So for the Goat McCoy trade I have the following pick numbers exchanging hands:

49ers trade: 164 (5th) and 237 (7th)

Browns trade: 175 (6th) + some dude

It looks like you have the wrong 5th round pick sent over with your draft order. Correct me if I'm wrong...

Whatever role gets asked for is fine by me! First come, first serve!

I think I have the draft picks right, but we'll see.. plenty of time to figure out the later picks.

ninerfanwheelz can be janitor or equipment manager. I'm obviously the groundskeeper.

Can you mow in a straight line? If not, you can take a break, I'll do it myself.

not particularly well but I previously was Les Miles nutritionist and successfully transferred him over to an all Bermuda and Fescue diet. I do feel like I am more than qualified.

Nice call. Bermuda is leaner than Kentucky Bluegrass. I would personally have gone with bentgrass, but only because I'm more familiar with it.

Bentgrass caused Les to have poop soup so it was a no go with that

Interesting... bentgrass has the same effect on Canada Geese.. now, either it's the bentgrass' fault, or Les Miles has goose genes. I'm leaning towards the latter.

1(14) for:

I think it added up close to even on the numerical draft chart.

Let me know what you think. Maybe we can work out something different if this doesnt interest you.

Thanks,

A trade up that leaves us our own first rounder? Very interesting.
