The people upset over Joeckel were not on the staff.

Most of the people upset by the performance of the Eagles over the past two seasons were not on the staff.
But, they knew better.

Staff is everything.

So true. Surprised that everyone was so upset with it. Pete was forced by FFMD staff (Villain?) to switch the pick from Luke to Dion because everyone else in the war room was adamantly opposed to it.

He picked his staff.

But seriously, this is why I am inclined to go Joeckel/Fisher/Johnson in the 1st.
It fills a spot for a long time in all likelihood and then you just roll.
I'd be ion ecstasy if they got Joeckel at #4.

Ok rebuttal time. I agree with some of your points and respectfully disagree with others.

Bryant trade- Here was the thought process. a) the difference in overall talent between the player we could have gotten at 35 and who was on the board at 56 was marginal. Everyone has personal player preferences but I didn't feel there was a player or two that was so far superior to the other. While Bryant is not a perfect player he is a solid starter. We walked out of round 2 with 3 starters instead of 2.

Jordan pick- even with the "false start" of picking Joeckel 1st, I still back the Jordan pick. It was my fault for not even discussing Joeckel on the forum and assuming him gone at 4. What I like about Jordan is his versitillity and that he can cover and rush. With the new rookie wage scale, you don't have to worry about the #4 pick being a superstar because we don't have to pay him that much. He may be a superstar, but it is a good bet he will be a good starter at a very valuable position. I my opinion OLB in a 3-4 is more valueable than a DE or a RT.

Long pick- He was BPA at that point and in my opinion the 4th best tackle and the 4th best guard in this draft. With taking Jordan at 4 and already filling DE. We had to go tackle. I'd take Long over Armstead, Watson or Pugh.

Wilson pick- Great value at s position of need.

Kelce pick- same here. Kudos to Phire for making this one. We were trying to trade out and I wasn't on for this. I may have made a stronger push for Manuel here but after studying Kelce more I like this pick.

Cole- your spot on. He had to go at this point.

Duke pick- I am just that good. Haha

7th rounders- Davis, Williams and Cave I all had way higher value on. They were BPA picks. Jones is my flier. Most people haven't heard of him. His production is off the charts. Worth the risk at that spot that he might be a good player.

Not taking a QB- Good luck getting any two people on this forum to agree about anything it terms of QB. It comes down to this. The staff didn't feel any QB option was significantly better than Foles, so why waste a pick that could help the rest of the team get better? Looking back I would have made a stronger push for Manuel at 67 perhaps.

That is my rebuttal on your thoughts and comments. We will agree to disagree about a lot of it.

I think my greatest concern was that you went for three "starters" over two stellar starters.

A combo of Joeckel and let's say, Collins, trumps Jordan, Long and Bryant, IMO.
Joeckel is as close to a sure thing as there is. Long is not.
The difference between Jordan and Collins is marginal.
Meanwhile, just how solid a starter is Bryant?
Isn't there likely to be a camp cut worthy of being a one year stop-gap until you can populate the roster with better players?
Or, with nine picks, can't you take a chance on a late pick developing into at least what Bryant gives you? Quinton Dial, maybe?

I think your initial instincts were correct in nabbing Joeckel.

I am not as high on Wreh-Wilson as you, but I cannot argue with the pick.
He's decent.

I think everyone knows I like Zach Sudfeld as a late TE pick.
He comes from a spread offense that runs a lot.
He is a very fluid runner who accelerates out of breaks well. He has good hands and can block, too.
That doesn't mean I think he is a better player than Kelce. At least, not yet.
I do, however, think he represents better value.
Once you get into the 3rd round I think those kind of trade-offs need to be discussed.
Again, not a bad pick by any means.

I can't really have any beef with anybody in the 7th.
It is a crapshoot.

If I were to redraft it:

Luke Joeckel
no Bryant trade
Jamie Collins
John Jenkins
EJ Manuel
Duke Williams
Brandon McGee
Zach Sudfeld
Garett Gilkey
Quinton Dial
Jaron Brown

UDFA:
Melvin White
Tevita Stevens

After the selection of Manuel in the 4th I would have entertained offers for Foles.
I would also have shopped Curry early on.

Thanks too all those who were active and helped out with my 1st FFMD. Especially AZ and Phire for being my right and left hand (I'm ambidextrous).
I have to say I honest had no idea what I was signing up do,but it was fun.

Thing I've Learned From this Mock

1) I am the only Eagles fan that would like Red Bryant on the team. It's because he's red isn't it?

2) If your left tackle doesnt run under a 5.0 40, don't draft him or the forum will sacrifice you to the God of Duke Williams.

3) Duke Williams will be the greatest football player who ever lived OR everyone on this forum is related to him.

4) Blidi Wreh Wilson is the most fun name to type in this draft.

5) I now have the phrase "Oregon the nips off this thing" in my repitoire

Check it out, Pete drafted Kyle Long in the 2nd round but in real life he goes #20 overall!
