It's a 1-year deal.

Smith's contract is 1-year, $715K with a $65K workout bonus. Nice pickup for Tampa Bay.

With Ogletree and now Smith I think that takes Austin out of the mix for us come draft day.

Smith hasn't done squat since 09 but damn it would be nice if he could get back to where he was. He was a beast that season, great route runner, solid slot guy.

Wow super cheap. Low risk, high reward pickup. Hopefully he can find his old form with Palmer throwing him the ball.

I WANT MOAR DEPTH!

At that price tag I don't care either way. He was great when he was healthy. If he can be a more durable Sammie Stroughter I would be happy with that.

Hasn't done anything for awhile, but I like the addition and him getting back with Sully.

Those two aren't stopping us from drafting him. Don't think we were in the first place though.

LOL right? Austin has something that only few in this ENTIRE league posses and a bum leg Steve Smith isnt one of them. Smith never had elite explosiveness, but was a precise route runner and tough over the middle. This to me is just a depth signing and see what he still has. Neither Olgetree or Smith will stop us from drafting Austin or another WR for that matter, just like getting Revis wont stop us from drafting a CB.

Great depth move, for cheap, but i dont expect much out of Smith. If he couldnt have a bigger impact on a team like STL who was WR hungry, im not sure what he has left.

I'm not getting the love for Tavon Austin. I see him similar to desean Jackson. Which means I don't know if he can handle the slot. Can he take a beating and be durable? I don't see him as a Steve smith who can work the middle ad deliver punishment. That's why Jackson was a 2nd round pick.

I prefer bailey who's more reliable in the slot. Better route runner more physical and quick.

what?! Austin got 23 carries against Oklahoma. Put up 225 14 times....Just because they are fast doesnt make them the same player. Austin has RB vision, and not a character concern like Jackson

Percy harvin was a strong wr too but was never durable.

Austin has a frail frame. Just bc he's small and fast doesn't mean he can play te slot. He has a similar style to desean Jackson. Not the most precise route runner but a deep threat on the outside.
