Melancon was absolutely SNUBBED too. Should have been 5, and if Yadier Molina is hurt and can't play in the ASG, I would expect Russell Martin to be the next catcher in.

Melancon got snubbed, but how many set-up men will get noticed? Not many.

The appropriate men went and I'm happy. Although I don't want Pedro in the HRD. I've been shown numbers that suggest players do poorly after participating in it and it's true. Just look at Cutch last year.

Also, 94Timmons94 I forgot Allie was at First. Keep thinking Third still.

Similar thing happened to Grilli last year as the set up man. But Melancon statistically was definitely having a better year, but yes its tough for a setup man to get noticed.

Also with Pedro, I would love to see him in the HRD. I don't really think that messed up Cutch much. He did only hit 1 HR and only took 11 swings.

Melancon will likely be our closer in the future, which is fine by me.

It wasn't what he did during the HRD... it was how he played after being in the HRD acting like he was trying to hit a home run on every damn pitch instead of doing what he does well.

Cutch still swings that. He swings trying to tear the seams off the ball almost every pitch.

3 straight losses.

I know losing streaks happen, but I just have a feeling they are going to once again struggle in the 2nd half of the season. They might end up with a winning record, but ultimately I think we end up missing the playoffs.

Hope I am wrong. After this long though, its hard to be optimistic about them.

Tough to stay positive after watching these games. This team drastically needs some help on offense though, that is for sure. They need someone who can get some fricken RBI's. They left 10 On Base today and a bunch of those were in scoring position too. Absolutely have to go make a move to go get someone at the deadline.

And once again Brandon Inge needs to hang it up. Pirates need to cut ties with him. He brings absolutely, absolutely nothing to the table. Decent defense, 0 offense. Clubhouse leadership stuff is BS to me. Bunch of veteran coaches, Russell Martin, Clint Barmes and Gaby Sanchez and AJ Burnett have been around for their fair share of time as well. The face of the franchise Andrew McCutchen can certainly step up as a leader as well.

David Wright didn't select Pedro to participate in the HR derby.

That really surprised me because I really expected Pedro to be in it.

Yeah he should be.... but he'd probably be the first contestant to consistently strike out during the HRD. Wink

See, I hear you, I understand where you're coming from, and I don't necessarily disagree however..... Alvarez has a lot more power than McCutchen does. McCutchen's presence in the HRD last year was flat out embarrassing. I don't think Alvarez would win, but I do think he'd get at least 10 HR's.

I am too especially considering he is from NY and third in the NL in homers. But Wright elected to choose his buddy Cuddyer instead. Sorry but he didn't deserve it.

You don't have to be sorry, you're right. He DIDN'T deserve it.

That's why, quite frankly.. the fans should get to pick who goes to the HRD, the 'voting process' should be limited to truthfully deserving players.
