Still bet the 2015 pick can get up to a 3rd. Than it'd be exactly what I predicted but a year later.

Still holding onto that dream huh? Laughing

I agree, this could be a big steal for the Raiders. But its clear the market for Flynn just wasnt there with the Raiders being the only real option.

I think its very telling to what the market had to offer by seeing Flynn restructuring. He's on the lower level of starting QB's when it comes to pay and makes ALOT less than Palmer and still needed to restructure.

That's the problem with the caps because teams can't have high dollar backups. But works out good for Flynn because he has another chance for a starting job.

I'm happy for Flynn too - I certainly wouldn't wish any life-altering degenerative disease on him....

I would have rather had a 4th and a 2015 but realistically he's a back-up QB with two starts to his credit and nothing but potential to sell a team on. There's no guarantee he'll start or that the Raiders won't still draft someone in the first 3 rounds. I saw people comparing him to Alex Smith but realistically he's A) Not a former first round pick and B) Has 78 fewer starts not including playoffs. We signed a former 7th round pick as a FA and managed to get two draft picks out of it, one being a 5th. That's not too shabby.

I've seen that the cap space cleared for this year is 3.25 million.

The logic is a 7.25 million salary this year subtracting his guaranteed money of 2 million this and next year (7.25m - 4m).

He's totally off the books next year though freeing up 8.25m in cap space when we're really going to start needing it.

Yep. I figure there's no way there's not potential for AT LEAST a 4th with the 2015 pick.

Important to get players off the books. This cowboy fan explained it well about his team IMO. Has a long lead up to it but teams need good management as well as players is what I got out of his video.

Off topic, that Cowboys fan is really good and I enjoy his videos. When the Seahawks beat the boys in Week 2, he was brutally honest about the team.

I gotta agree with Tats. I would not be surprised if the 2015 pick could become something like a 3rd rounder.

I could see it being bumped up to a 4th but a 3? No way Raiders would be bidding against themselves.

If Flynn becomes a legit starting QB, they remove the need to draft a 1st round QB, making a 2015 3rd round pick as a bargain. That's just my mindset.

Pretry amazing that in the end, Matt Flynn ends up with $6.5M guaranteed in 2013 & could make $15.25M over 2 years. Unreal.

thats why people trade conditional picks. Something like:
5th guaranteed
4th if he starts 14 or more games
3rd if he makes the pro bowl

If Wilson goes down, would anyone expect a deep playoff run no matter who the backup was?
