Meh. Don't like this signing because it seems like a lousy choice of camp fodder. You sign someone who might turn out to be useful, who can at least play special teams or something like that.

Will this count towards our Compensation Pick count?

You can say that about plenty of guys every year with 9 seasons of hindsight.

Looking back at any draft that you didn't follow closely is always hard.

Fair enough. That was a weird draft for receivers too...

I'm not so down on this move...40 or so receptions a year and around 500 yards isn't bad production with Ponder as your QB. I'm not saying he's gonna start or put up good numbers, but he'd be a decent third WR.

I got a message from the Sportcenter App on my phone while I was driving around downtown, and I started to freak out when I saw "Patriots sign WR...", thinking Emmanuel Sanders had signed, and then I saw Michael Jenkins, and went...

Confused

Don't know what I really make of this move. Not super excited about it, but not wholly against it.

Donald Jones did that last year and is much more athletic with a much higher upside and room for improvement. I would say he outshines Molasses Mike during camp.

Oh yeah. Totally blanked on the Jones signing for a few minutes for some reason.

Ok. Now I'm just as confused as everyone else. Smile

Totally different type of receivers though...Attribute wise, so different value.

They would play the same position, so same value. Attributes be damned, those will all translate into catches, yards, yac, and touchdowns or their value is nothing.

He ran a 4.45 40 time. 6-4 with 4.45 40 time, those are the type of measurables that some teams love in the first.

Jenkins was the epitome of a late 1st/ early 2nd WR talent. That group produces more flops than any other (e.g. Chad Jackson). Go back a few years and look at the early pick, not elite, prospect (AJ Green, C.Johnson etc) WR's picked - a lot of forgettable names.
