Pretty good trade. It was obvious Stan was not going to be needed in Chip's scheme. We might as well get a big body that can push for a spot in return for him. We will see if this trade does anything at all. Size is important, but it can only do so much.

He looked pretty slow on that play even though nobody touched him.

Yeah I'm happy that he can compensate with size. Maybe Chip's sports science can make the guy quicker, he'd be a beast.

Isn't the 5-techs primary purpose to hold the POA against double teams while being capable of providing a solid pass rush? At his size, I don't doubt his ability to perform the former at a high level.

Yeah being able to eat double teams is important, but rushing the passer is important too. The 5-tech (which just means he lines up between the OT and the TE) has to rush the passer if the tight end releases, or if it's an obvious passing situation.

I haven't seen anything from him outside of that one play, so I could be wrong here. I was just surprised at how slow he was off the ball despite the fact that nobody blocked him. Being slow off the ball is bad whether you're eating double teams or rushing the passer.

He isn't a starter, and he probably will only come in on 1st and 2nd downs. His size will be helpful, but that seems like all he has. This isn't an important move, just one that gives us depth.

Not judging him but my Gran could have made that sack. The amount of teams he's played on in 2/3 years is quite concerning, hopefully he can find some solidarity here and do well.

Word homeboy..yeah no explosiveness off the snap at that position is a big no-no. That's a very important asset to have along the trenches. Probably was my best asset being that I was a smaller lineman..heck being exceptional at coming off the snap is an easy way for guys to get ahead of the curve on every play even if they lack other essentials. You're executing your swim/rip before the OL is even outta his stance. This is why I love Star Lotulelei..the guy is just an uncoiled spring as soon as the ball is snapped.

Well he's worth exactly 1 Stan Havili, so yeah expectations are pretty low Wink

It says that he is 6'7" 325lbs Shocked

Theres his combine profile. Nearly 38" arms and ran a sub 5 second 40. Could be a good addition with some upside. Havili was as good as gone anyway.
