Nice. I'm curious to see if the Falcons are done now.

I'm still holding out hope we can convince Grimes to come back. We could use him.

Curious to see the numbers. Really hope we didn't overpay.

Honestly, I could care less if Grimes comes back or not. He's 30, coming off an Achilles injury (remember his bread and butter was his ability to jump). If we can get him at the right price then I'm fine with it but now that we got Osi and Jackson I am happy as can be. Can't wait for the draft! We're making all the right moves

Ok, it's 2 yr/$8.5 million, with $5 million guranteed. Max value of $12 mil. Not horrible. But not a bargin.

I would say overall its pretty team friendly. 4.25 per year aint bad at all

It's about .25 mill above what I guessed, I'm pretty happy with this. Maybe the Falcons can restructure some contracts and wiggle enough room to get someone else. Not a high profile guy but like a stopgap LB or CB.

I'm with you here. He was good, but you never know after injuries like that. If we keep him great, if we don't let's hope we get the best possible players we can at CB and trust TD.

my projection on the structure:

4M signing bonus
yr 1 salary $1M guaranteed
yr 2 salary $3.5M

Escalators and incentives totalling $3.5M on top. But we'll see when Pat Yas puts the deal out tomorrow or friday.

Eh, the money isn't bad, but I'm not particularly a fan of his. Still need a DE early, if we have any thoughts of stopping the run, since Osi is purely a pass specialist.

I'm a little annoyed at this. I was kind of hoping we would go all-in on the 3-4 transformation. This effectively assures that we'll have the same basic defense but with worse parts next year. I'm probably putting too much value in the 3-4, thinking it will solve all our problems. Still, I'm pretty sure the current system isn't working.

Osi isn't bad for what he is but Abraham is a lot better. Abe did well against the run and had to face a lot of double teams. I guess they were worried that his age will finally catch up with him but Osi isn't that much younger. Age affects different players in different ways. Osi could easily end up falling apart before Abe does.

My basic view on our pass rush:

2012 - pretty bad
Offseason (after Abe let go, before Osi) - horrificly bad
2013 (w/Osi) - pretty bad (at best)

So if Osi can duplicate what Abe did, we may have as good a pass rush as last year. But it also could end up worse than last year. It's always hard to tell if a pass rusher from another team was a product of the players around him or the scheme.

So, yeah, getting Osi made us better than we were yesterday but we still have massive problems on defense. Osi is, at best, a temporary bandaid that's not doing much to cover up the ugly, festering wound of our defense.

Best available DE in the first, Cover LB, and some form of NT in the draft and I'll start to believe in our defense a bit more. Like the Osi signing, but we need more than just him.
