Saw that Carson Palmer said "no" on the restructure of his deal. I dont see the Raiders paying him 11 mill. Is this the QB competition for Weeden? I think he would be an improvement over McCoy. I dont think id want him as a starter though. Palmer in a Cleveland uniform would not shock me. Thoughts?

Carson Palmer is not gonna take a back up job, and at this point in his career I dont see him as an upgrade over weeden

He's owe'd 13 million, and we've got 2 million extra cap hit due to a restructure from last year. He'll go to Arizona or Jax and start rather than be a backup. He's proved that from his retired time in Cincy.

Palmer gets a lot of flack, he's actually not that bad. I'd say he's a step above mediocre. The guy can lead an offense, the no huddle like a champ, can throw for 4,000+ yards a year... the biggest downside is his INT's. But everything else he's slightly above average at IMO. I hope we just hang onto the guy. Reggie Mckenzie has made plenty of cap room, there's no absolute need to cut him at this point.

Im not too sure there is such a thing as a "backup" QB in Cleveland anymore. More like "Starter #2." He does know the division quite well. Fits our offense. Always thought he was a very good QB until the hit against the Steelers. I wouldnt be shocked if the Bills or Jets pick him up though. Dont know their cap situations.

I honestly think our fans have an obsession with scrubs.

I can't find another forum that wants to sign more bums than us. Laughing

No obsession at all. But if Weeden goes down or flames out, id rather see Palmer than McCoy or Lewis. Looking at the number of starting jobs available, i dont think it matters anyway. It was just a thought.

I couldn't agree more. It is like clockwork. Someone gets cut we get a post about signing him. Someone doesn't want to play for their team we got a post about trading for them or signing them as a FA when they are cut.

I want no part of Palmer.

He didnt want to play for a team that was guaranteeing him a starting position... there's absolutely no way he would come to one that even thought about the words "quarterback competition". Agree with Candy and Wolfhunt... I hate to be harsh, but I can't think of one rational thought that would lead to a "Carson Palmer???" discussion.

Come to the Raider forum

Palmer would be far from a scrub back up though.
