Ropati came from the Jets, so obviously Sutton was aware of him. If he took only $1MM with the Titans, I'd imagine he didn't think too highly of him.

Could we maybe be targeting another UFA DE? Richard Seymour anyone?

Also, there are guys still out there like:
Alan Branch
Vaughn Martin
Ryan McBean
Tony McDaniel
Shaun Smith
Ty Warren

For depth, there are some decent options above. Me personally, I'd love to see Seymour on a incentive laden 2-3yr deal, and have him used as a pass rush specialist/block PAT specialist.

As it stands now we have the following under contract :

Tyson Jackson
Mike DeVito
Allen Bailey

Shocked

Am I missing someone? And if so, they probably aren't worth mentioning anyway! LOL

We need to keep Albert under the 2013 franchise tender and try like heck to trade down atleast once in round 1 while still getting either Star Lotulelei or Ezekiel Ansah. Star needs to be the pick IMO.

Powe? Toribio? Are they signed?

Did everyone forget about Dontari overnight?

I was talking mainly about defensive end.

I'm sad we didnt bring back Ropati.

For any Titans fans reading, my opinion is he was a high energy and effort guy with not a lot of technique. Like he was essentially still a bit raw. His other slight issue was sticking to his assignment in our two gap system last year. That's one reason I was really looking forward to him in a more one gap kinda system. Especially when playing with a lead and just pinning his ears back.

I would absolutely love Seymour brought in for a limited snap type role to keep him fresh. Not severely limited snaps mind you.. just a nice rotation with DeVito and Jackson and others in our 3 man or occasional 4 man fronts.

Yeah, for the cost of what he signed for, I don't see why we wouldn't have tried to bring him back. But who knows what goes on behind the scenes, and perhaps we just felt there was as much talent available within the draft.

I was never impressed as everyone else was...he couldn't get good leverage and there were a few bad missed tackles that stood out. I don't consider myself any kind of expert on DL though, so I might be wrong.

I'm guessing they believe Bailey can excel as the top DE backup in a new system...that along with the possibility we draft DE would've made Ropati too expensive for #5 DE or #7 or 8 overall DL.

Yep - the "now I'm happy virus" ...

That said - another 2nd line player I'd liked back. Guess we'll have to wait and see. Next FA acquisitions probably coming only after the draft to patch remaining holes from a new stock of just released veterans.
