Now that Elvis has left the team, how will his position be filled?

[There are other lower-probability choices like Shaun Phillips (ex-Chargers LB) or signing another OLB.]

Who will complete this line??

My thought right now would be the winner of a camp battle of Ayers and Jackson on rushing downs, and a vet pass rushing specialist (either Abraham or Freeny) in the nickle defense.

A rookie could get drafted and see significant playing time, if the FO sees a valuable player available. I just haven't considered the options for that, yet.

Of the options listed, John Abraham is the only one who has shown any semblance of an ability to rush the passer. Freeney is old and slow, Ayers is not and never has been a pass rusher, Beal is basically a rookie and a rookie is rookie.

We need to sign a veteran DE, it'll likely be Freeney compared to the media reports, and a draft a DE with real pass rush ability with our top pick. I'm not a fan of many of the DEs in this years class but, if you held a gun to my head, I'd choose either Tank Carradine or Demonte Moore.

Everyone knows I like Big Rob, and while I think he's underperformed as a player so far, he's going to have a big role in our D. Look at Vick's comments yesterday, he said time for No. 91 to step up.

I think we certainly sign a vet, looking like Freeney, but the DP (unsurprisingly) has written conflicting articles about the situation.

Hello Broncos fans. Dallas Cowboys fans here. How much would guys give up for Anthony Spencer? Is a 2nd round draft pick out of the question?

Absolutely not gonna happen. If Denver is going to replace Doom, they might as well draft a younger replacement to do so.

Id like to see Ayers get the shot. As some have pointed out, he performed well at times last year when he replaced Doom. Give him a shot and draft a player like Lemonier for sub-packages

Truthfully, if they took Lemonier in Round 2 I wouldn't be mad. I still don't know if it's a given that Denver drafts a DE early. People think they need to match Doom's sack total (which is wrong), but they need to have a presence. If Abraham/Ayers are that presence, we're fine.

I Like Lemonier, but I worry he will be better suited as an OLB. He has a good motor and initial burst, but he would need to add weight to play DE in a 4-3. The added weight would take away from his speed and explosiveness He also needs ALOT of work in the run game. Love Lemonier, just not for the Broncos.

OLB or DE, hes going to be in on sub-packages. JDR will use him however he may please.

I think too many people, including myself, get carried away with being an OLB or DE. If its a passing situation, the DC needs to put them in the right scheme and the player will decide if he goes hand-up or hand-down. Either way, the player will rush the passer.

I'm surprised that no one else has said rookie. I really like this rookie DE class and think that regardless of us getting Abraham or Freeney a rookie DE in the 1st round would steal a ton of snaps from either one of those guys.

Do you guys think Shaun Phillips could be an option?

He had 9.5 Sacks in 2012 and he's 31 compared to Freeney 33 and Abraham 34.

I wonder if Margus Hunt becomes a priority pick in the draft. Dude is 6'8"...if he cannot get to the QB on passing downs, he could certainly be there to bat balls down.
