Weirdly enough, that was the first thing I thought of when I saw the post.

Anyhow, Dummervil dropped his price to 8M for Denver. That's got to be his target. For comparison, Avril got 7M and Bennet got 5M. I think that the team that offers him 8M first will get him. I have a feeling he has been getting low offers from teams that don't have the cap but I'd be very weary of singing him for that much.

You know right about training camp somebody always looses a player.
I dont belive the 3 DEs in question are in any particular rush, on the contrary.
Theyr'e probably hoping the others sign more reasonable contracts up front.

Necesity dictates is the thought process there.

We still have too much cap to not use on another free agent.

More interested in Winston than any of the FA DEs for several reasons. Dumervil is a one trick pony and wants to get paid more than he deserves.

that one trick isnt half bad though. Id welcome here is the price doesnt kill our cap. With out solid answers at the Corner position, adding a pass rusher with the likes of Doom would take a lot of pressure off of the corners. wake and doom would be a force.

This, that trick is the most important thing to have in an NFL defense. I guarantee you that if Dumervil puts up 11 sacks on our team while Wake puts up another 15 we won't be complaining about the run.

Undoubtedly he has skills as a pass rusher and would put up 10+ sacks along with Wake. But $$$ is the question and are we going to open up pandora's box by paying him more than Wake?

Wake is making roughly 8M per. The reason his spotrac avg is lower is because it counts his extension year which was actually the final year of his previous contract. Dumervil would be getting the same contract we gave Wake if he gets the amount he wants.

Looked it up and yep you're right. He's averaging just around $7mil.

I still wouldn't want Dumervil for more than $6mil.

Marshall-Wallace
Dansby-Ellerbe
Burnett-Wheeler
Fasano-Keller

Gibson is the only guy who isn't a replacement and it's very possible he replaces Bess next season in the slot when Bess is a FA.

Again, Bess doesnt fit your prototypical WC Off.
It wouldnt surprise me one bit to see him dealt in some kinda trade moving forward.
