As many of you have pointed out, I dont think this signing was to replace Urlacher as much as it was to replace Nick Roach.

Versatile vet LB has Nick Roach replacement written all over it....I think we probably draft Urlachers replacement.

Should have signed Daryl Smith. So much better.

This.

I'll never be a fan of bringing a guy in that has been known to have severe character concerns unless their name is Brandon Marshall but we'll see, I guess.

Apparently, we are still interested in bringing in Nick Barnett, as well. That tells me that D.J. Williams is likely being projected as our SLB and hopefully won't be a big deciding factor in if we take Arthur Brown or Kiko Alonso in the early rounds.

This is classic Bears. Kick a solid player to the curb who has played well for the team. A team captain who wanted to return is replaced by a 30 year old journeyman who was the best available on the market.

Would you rather own the opera? Cool

DJ Williams is not a journeyman. Urlacher is not very good anymore either....

I would suggest watching how Urlacher played last season before spouting off garbage like this.

For that matter, this seems pretty typical of you.

You would think OLB. He has played MLB, but he wasn't as good.

Wow! That's a nice steal for the Bears. Williams' athleticism in the MLB could make up for the loss of Urlacher

Couldn't the Bears still sign Daryl Smith to play sam? Briggs - Williams - Smith would be a nice trio.

I do not expect all of the gnashing of teeth that has been expected due to the loss of Urlacher. Whether dropping back in coverage or sticking close to the LOS, Williams is no joke. If he keeps his nose clean, there is no reason that they cannot draft his replacement (this year or next, depending upon whether they pick up a Sam or a Mike in the draft this year) and have him retire as a Bear in a few years. It would be nice for the Bears to have a happy ending for once. Only time will tell.

We will sign another veteran LB. Smith may be in the mix.

As far as Williams goes listening to Emery it sounds like he will start at MLB. Really happy with this signing.
