Blocking tight end that was converted from an OT, most recently played for the Chiefs.

He was actually an effective OL for the Patriots during pre-season before we released him due to lack of roster space, very fast for his size and also just 24-years old.

I would hope the Bears give him a shot at OT.

The Bears do not need an OT.

This is a nice signing and his size [6'6" 280lbs] and ability to block provide a huge upgrade for the Bears.

Talk about totally redoing and improving a position.

Our TE group went from embarrassing to pretty formidable.

Having did a little bit of research into Maneri this is a solid pickup…considering the amount of times we heard Trestman stress the importance of protecting Cutler this is a move that certainly helps...we can line him up and have confidence that he is at least going to help our OTs unlike Davis sometimes did lol…in the running game it’s going to give us great balance...teams will struggle to identify which way we are running considering both Bennett & Maneri are quality blockers...

I just hope we didn't pay Matt Spaeth money.

Yea, seriously, I never understood why Davis and Spaeth were known as "blocking" TE's....they were big but not that great at blocking....Spaeth was OK....Davis would whiff all the time though

Is Maneri the guy Troy Polumalu tried to "tackle" by diving head-first into his chest and jacked up his shoulder?

One of the better blocking TEs in the league. Glad to have him. Very Happy

If he is as good of a blocking TE as advertised this is a nice signing (assuming they didn't give him crazy money).

They should now be set at TE heading into the season and continue to improve the protection for Cutler.

A 3rd OT on passing downs.

If he can handle a DE 1 on 1 from time to time it can really allow you to do some nice things in protection.

You can slide to blitzes, double a dominant 3 technique and allow you OTs to tee off on a DE.

Good signing. I really like how the TE position is looking right now.

All the cool kids are turning TEs into OTs. We're doing the opposite.
