I'm a fan of this guy. He's a natural passrusher with a great first step. Any one that has 3 sacks on Alabama OL is ok in my book. Espe. will commentors were saying how Alabama OL was better than some NFL's.

Quanterus Smith
Height: 6-5 | Weight: 249 | 40-Time: 4.70

5th Round would be great to pick him up in.

I've got him going to Denver in round 3, if they lose Dumervil.

I'm a huge fan, particularly as an OLB in an odd front. That said, there's a little bit of Aaron Maybin in his game, so there's something to give you pause.

It is kinda weird that we havn't heard anything about him. Before the injury, I had him as a 2nd tier-mid 2nd round guy with a lot of upside. Now he'll probably go 5th but a team who does their homework may reach for him in the 4th.

On a side note - Andrew Jackson would have made a lot of money if he has come out, especially with Te'o in full meltdown mode. He would be considered the top MLB in this class

Maybin was a bad pick only because he was a 1st rounder. Smith should go from round 3-5...which is well worth the risk. I think that he is a top 10 3-4 WOLB.

He made D.J. Fluker looks silly more than a couple times in that Bama game. Natural pass rusher, great first step, good bend and flexibility and capable of dipping his shoulder and running the arc. I was impressed that he showed a nice swim move and he has some versatility as a pass rusher. But he struggles in the run game, if an OT/TE gets his hands on his frame inside the shoulder pads he can get washed out and doesn't set the edge consistently/leverage the run consistently. Lotta potential, I think he's a late second/early third rounder but honestly I'm unsure where he lands on draft day.

Maybin was a bad pick because he couldn't rush the passer worth a lick in the NFL. He would have been a bad pick in the tenth round since he couldn't and he didn't want to.

Can't speak to Smith's want-to, since I haven't met him, but his college play is Maybinesque.

Not a huge fan. He dominated some games and disappeared in others. He strikes me as the type of guy who exploits inferior talent. That includes DJ Fluker as a pass blocker.

You'd think that watching football would desensitize you to "unusual" names, since they're honestly pretty common in football.

I mean, why would you be okay with "Barkevious" and have a problem with "Quanterus"? It's not like the first unusual q-name we've seen either, since the name on Julio Jones's birth certificate is "Quintorris".

This. He made Fluker look like he can't ever play tackle. He'd be an early second if not for the injury, I'd take him in the 3rd-4th if he's progressing well.
