Former Chiefs/Texans OT Eric Winston is visiting Dolphins today. Deal could happen. Eagles, Pats, Chargers, Cowboys also interested.

For the sake of Tanny and the 'fins, I would hope so. Eric Winston is a fine RT, but not one of those guys who could flip flop sides and see now decrease in effectiveness. If he's playing LT, Tanny is going to be a grease stain in the turf sometime this season, he'd get murdered...

Martin at LT isn't much prettier...

Problem is, Martin is a terrible LT aswell, he allowed 17 hurries in 4 games last season when he was shifted to play LT after Jake Long got hurt. [Long by the way, in a down season allowed only 10 hurries and 12 games]

This is why I was asking.

Winston is a much better run blocker than PB, I was main;y insinuating do they move Martin or draft another tackle.

Yes, he was drafted to be LT.

This is the signing I wanted since the Chiefs released him. Wanted us to get Winston instead of resigning Long, he's a much better fit for the ZBS.

Martin was a rookie last season, had to deal with switching positions mid-season, and most acknowledged he would be a project player in the NFL pre-draft. I think we'll see an improvement this season. Especially if he gets the 1st team reps at LT (his natural position) in camp. I don't think Martin will ever be an elite LT, but he should be serviceable.

People undervalue player development it seems. Martin was a rookie last year, came in with strength issues, and never had a real chance to work on those issues in the offseason, especially since he was among the last players into camp due to finishing school. This offseason he has a year of NFL competition experience and an extra 5-6 months to refine himself and get ready. I expect a significant improvement from him.

I understand and that makes sense. I just wasn't a fan of his at all when scouting him last draft. Everyone wanted to compare Matt Kalil, Riley Reiff and Jonathan Martin. I've always said Martin isn't close to being as good as Kalil. He lacked strength in college and got pushed around. Nick Perry threw Martin around when Stanford played USC. No surprise the same thing happened in the NFL.

That could change with another year in a NFL strength and conditioning program but I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't succeed (meaning at least become average) as a LT in the NFL. I've been wrong before though but that's my opinion of him...

They're going to ZBS right? Great move if so.

It's a good spot for Winston and there are definitely teams with worse tackle tandems than Martin and Winston. Also it's a return home for the former Hurricane so that's probably appealing to Winston as well.

Also - it looks like they are setting up a meeting with Osi Umenyiora. I can't remember if the Phins are running a 3-4 or a 4-3... they've switched back to a 4-3 recently right? If so it makes sense to add a pass rusher like Osi to the mix.

This signing has made sense since they lost Long. It's a good pick-up.

We've been in a ZBS since last year. Winston had already visited last off-season with Miami but chose KC. Hoping he decides to join the Dolphins this time.

I had a good little laugh when I read Billy Spike saying Jonathan Martin is a terrible LT, aswell.

We made the move to ZBS last year.
