Emerged opposite Charles Johnson in 2012 & now requesting a new contract. Rookie deal set to expire following 2013. If Gettlemen recognizes financially the team cannot retain Hardy given the amount of resources tied into Charles Johnson, what's his open market value?

Young pass rushers are gold in this league. He's 2nd round value.

Based on both threads, I guess he's more valuable than Tony Romo.

Tony Romo is a top ten quarterback, but if you think what Hardy did this past season wasn't a fluke, then it is highly possible teams would probably trade more for him than they would for Romo given Hardy still plays a premier position and is only 24 years old.

Unless your name is Adrian Peterson, Calvin Johnson, JJ Watt or Darrelle Revis. QB > Your position. Plus Tony Romo is only 32 which gives him a good 6+ years of play left.

Romo is not going to be a top ten quarterback for 6+ years.

And your right, QB > any other position. But it isn't like we're dealing with someone who has been an undisputed top five quarterback here. He's about to be 32 and doesn't have the cleanest injury history. I'm a huge Romo fan, and if I felt my team was set at everything by QB, I'm not hesitating at all to trade a first round pick for him. But if my team is in rebuild mode with a lot of holes, I'd say trading a 2nd round pick for a 24 stud DE (not saying Hardy is a stud, just using it as an example) over a 32 year old quarterback who might not have that many years left of top ten play, especially with other QBs on the rise. So in that case, some teams would probably value Hardy over Romo.

Greg Hardy has the upside of being a premium edge rusher & will be 25 when the 2013 Season Starts. Entering the final year of a rookie deal & seeking an extension. The market for edge rushers in Free Agency was non-existent. After the Bengals Franchised Michael Johnson, all you had was older pass rushers (Osi, Freeney). When Dumervil hit the market at 29, teams began lining up to talk with him.

So now you have a 25 Year old edge rusher that could be made available. I think it's at least a 2nd & future 2nd.
