**Thread Purpose**
This thread is being created so, at any time, a member here in Valhalla can know where we stand with the cap and also get up to date information on the moves that our club has made. I will also open up the thread to any questions that guys may have about the cap, and do my best to answer them for you. I encourage you all to post transactions in this thread as they happen in case I miss one of them.

So basically what your saying is we can technically go over the cap by 7.6 mil?
But since we have dead money from previously voided/traded contracts like Harvin we have about 5.8 million of space to work with?
English is my first language...capology is like my fifth
Did the cap exceptions come from the WASH/DALLAS cap debacle or where?
Thanks for any help...aka Capology for Dummies _________________ AD is hotter than Madonna in a pointy bra!!! |

The $7.6 in cap credits does partly come from the DAL/WAS situation. The other is cap rollover from last year. So yes, the team can be that amount over the cap this year. The cap credits are negated some by the dead money as well, so you're correct there.
This year, if this were to be our ending cap number we would have about $475,000 in cap rollover.
That's determined by taking the un-adjusted cap number (right now $123,425,000) and subtracting that from the hard cap of $123,900,000. That would be the amount we can, technically, be over the cap next year. _________________

I too speak capology as about my fifth language, so I may have some dumb questions.
How many years can your cap rollover? Just from 2012 to 2013? Or could the rollover from 2012, (roll into 2013), and into 2014 and/or beyond?
I like this thread by the way.. Really pulling for longboat maintenance name. Also should be a good place for us dummies to get our questions answered. _________________

And as appreciation for rpmwr19 doing the heavy lifting work in this thread, FF posters should help him by posting any related info on cap space, contract provisions with links, etc.
Thanks, rpmwr19! I'll help by posting any pertinent info that I find.
I wonder if Brzezinski will lurk here for the latest info? _________________

Well we know they come here to find out what players need to be restructured.

I am not saying your numbers are wrong but according to Over the Cap (which is where I go for the team/player salary info), they have slightly different numbers... they have the Vikings closer to the $125 million team salary number. _________________

My numbers are slightly different but you're looking at the wrong number on that site. My numbers are rounded slightly to make the spreadsheet easier to format.
The number I have is for the top 51 contracts as that is what is being operated under right now. The 125 is the total number.
They are also missing Marcus Shetels deal and so was spotrac until I contacted them. _________________

Spotrac is fantastic. It's where I got my info for the most part. _________________
