Im okay with that. Hass is pretty much done. His best years are WAY!!!! behind him. Yes he would have been an okay backup this year but he just doesn't have the arm anymore. Glad we moved on. But Id like to thank him for his 2 years. It was nice to see a great play some of his last football with us. My fav moment was last year against the bills when he threw that last sec TD to win us the game! thanks hass you are a true pro. I do hope he catches on somewhere tho.

His arm is gone. I liked him though.

He served his purpose. Always much respect for Hasselbeck.

I think there is no doubt we go get a vet backup now right? Maybe Fitz idk but I don't think we can just have Rusty as the backup. Especially since Locker is really an unknown at this point.

It needed to be done, we need to invest in a more long term solution and Ryan fits that perfectly. That said I have always been a Hass fan and wish him nothing but the best. I'm thankful for him coming here and was exactly what we needed at the time.

I heard on the radio that they could not agree on a cut or restructure. He was still wanting too much money.

Edit:

Quote:
The team has released a statement announcing that they were unable to reach an agreement on a restructured contract with quarterback Matt Hasselbeck and that the team will release him as a result. Hasselbeck was scheduled to make $5.5 million in 2013, a number that the team clearly felt was too much for a player who would have been a backup to Jake Locker. Hasselbeck acknowledged earlier this offseason that a pay cut might be necessary and seemed open to it, although appearances were deceiving.

I want to thank Matt for his contributions to our team over the last two years, Titans General Manager Ruston Webster said in the statement. He was an important part of the transition process he was a pro at every turn and he provided an example to the rest of the team. I know that we are a better team for his being here and we wish him the best.

With Hasselbeck out of the picture, the Titans will need to find a new backup for Locker. That explains why theyre talking to Fitzpatrick, even if the conversations started as a way to leverage Hasselbeck into a pay cut that would have made him a viable option to remain in Tennessee.
