If we trade down there maybe a chance I guess but not at #3 for me. Too much of a high risk/high reward type pick for us I think. |
Even in a trade down I think it's unlikely. We'll go base 4-3 and with our signing there just isn't much need for him. Allen saying he feels the tempo is set in the trenches is also a hint that he wants to go for DL. If we trade down and every else we like is off the board he might be the pick. |
I take it you don't see Jordan as a pass rusher that could play RDE/OLB in a hybrid look then but more of a SLB/WLB in a 4-3 which makes sense tbh.
With the attention on the defense in FA I am still (at this point) hoping for Fisher. |
He could, but it seems a wasting picking up Burnett. I certainly can't see him at DE, not unless he bulks up a lot. His best position will be OLB in a 3-4 and if we are going to run a 4-3 base it doesn't make much sense to play him out of position for the majority of time. If he was Von Miller good I'd be happy to take him at #3. |
Burnett sucks... he got stiffed by Ausberry and looked like a bum. Jordan can do it all. He can pass rush with great speed and power (especially when he bulks up a little), great tackler and pursuit, can cover TE's... hell didn't he used to play TE? _________________ (MLB)=A's, (NFL)=Raiders, (NBA)= Warriors

| Didn't Burnett play WLB? I could be very mistaken. |

Burnett is not a bum, and Ausberry had the angle. Dion isn't some great pass rusher at the moment, he needs time to develop. He's an alright tackler and could improve in the run game. I like his ability to cover and he is good at pursuing the ball. He isn't a super prospect like you seem to be saying though. Anyone who assumes he'll be Aldon Smith right away will be disappointed. _________________

Why not? If you had a feeling a guy could be the next Revis would you pass on that in the top 5 just because he's a CB? I honestly see a lot of Revis-like potential in Milliner.
| OakRaiders3828 wrote: | | and I only want Dion if we plan on using alot of 3-4 looks. |
Again, I have to ask why? He will be an elite pass rusher in the NFL. He can play 4-3 DE and OLB in some hybrid situations. He is quite the physical specimen. Like JPP or Aldon Smith. |
I'd take a great D Lineman over an elite CB, and I don't see Revis in Milliner. Regardless, we had an elite CB for years, it doesn't mean jack and doesn't lead to wins. Trading down for Trufant would be just as good, and this is a real deep draft for CB's.
JPP is 6-5 280 and ran a 4.7. Jordan is 245 and ran a 4.6, impressive sure but not along the lines of JPP. I'm not seeing Smith or JPP in Jordan, they were far more impressive pass rushers IMO, I see more Wimbley or Lawson in Jordan. Jordan isn't a 4-3 DE, the only way he can play with his hand in the dirt is on obvious passing downs, sure he can play OLB, but we already signed 2 of them so I just don't see it. If we want a pass rushing OLB for the 3-4 I'd prefer Jones.
Jordan will be a solid player, I just don't see the fit right now and I don't think he'll live up to being drafted #3. I guess I'll have to get more info on our scheme and want we want to do before counting Jordan out. _________________

Is that all you have seen of Burnett, and that makes him a bum? _________________

Wow..... dumbest thing I've read in awhile. 1 play and he's a bum? Never mind the impressive body of work he's put together over the years.
I like Jordan a lot, but he's not even in the same sentence as a player like Burnett and if he became that good, he'd have a nice NFL career. _________________

He can't pass-rush though, dude looked pedestrian when he did for Oregon for most of the season. _________________

I'd be very happy with Star, Jones or Fisher.
I'd be pretty happy with Smith, Werner, Ansah, Richardson, Warmack or Floyd.
I'd learn to deal with Jordan or Milliner _________________

I think he's going to KC haha that's why I didn't mention him. Him and Fisher are about equal to me, maybe a slight edge to Fisher because he seems better suited for the PBS. Would welcome either of them. _________________

This is sorta how I am feeling. Jones and Fisher are my 1 and 2 right now, and there are a bunch of guys I would be at least OK with. I wouldnt be upset if we took any of these guys:
a. Fisher, Jones, Star, Warmack
b. Ansah, Geno, Richardson, Werner, Jordan
c. Milliner, Floyd _________________

i would be pretty upset if we sit at #3 and take a Tackle. The defense desperately needs talent, especially at rushing the qb.
i trust mckenzie and whatever he ends up doing tbh _________________

Yeah, either Milliner or Lotulelei at #3 if we stay put -- but trading down would be my first choice. _________________

we're picking Geno Smith. I'll have to deal with it.
I will be the JTagg of Geno Smith pretty much. It will be Geno Smith and that makes me a sad panda. _________________
