The scheme wasn't the problem, it was the player. He is just bad, I can't wait to see him fail in SF. I hope it costs them a playoff game or something.

If you can't tell, I am bitter about his incredible under performance. Worst FA signing in Eagles history IMO.

Me deuce. Maybe he should have mentioned that when signing his millions. "Hey, I can only work in this setting...." Babin was also a niche player. I just thought Aso was legit. Oh well.

Maybe if we didn't hire an Oline coach to become an incompetent DC we might of seen what he truely could of done. He's going to ball in SF playing man to man 70% of the time with their front 7 pressure. Watch.

That's a bit unfair.

Can't pin it all on him although his attitude and Shaggy attitude was a huge problem. Remember the Detroit game where he shut down Megatron for 3 quarters before Castillo inexplicably put DRC on him the rest of the game? He's still a solid man corner, but he blows in zone. He also needs competent safety play, at least in Oakland they weren't Kurt Coleman and Nate Allen.

Not according to Donte' Whitners comments on NFLN when asked about the addition moving forward in Fangio's defense.

How so? There wasn't a single poster in this forum including yourself that didn't recognize in 2011 Castillo had no clue how to utilize Nnamdi, DRC and Asante together. Tried way to many different combinations at LB including using Mr Blood line himself. Now I will be the first to admit Castillo was made the scapegoat in 2012 based off how the defense had played up to that point but it was obvious to all that he "still" was having issues getting players to buy into his scheme and call a decent game plan. Made blatantly obvious in the 4th QT of the Det game. Now I have always been a "players" play/execute or don't type of fan and none of them outside of a select few played worth a crap from the safeties on down during his tenure as DC. I just don't think anyone bought into him as a DC or leader on that side of the ball especially when he didn't confront nor whip Washburns a$$ during those comments. A real DC with NFL experience "could" of made a different IMO.

Decent player but he's 31 years old. He'd need replacing fairly soon after he arrives. I'd rather take Armstead or someone of that ilk in the draft.

Because lacking experience and incompetent are not the same thing. Because he got stuck with a DL scheme that he may not have wanted. Because the team itself was dysfunctional at the time. Was it maybe the wrong time to bring in a novice DC when the team was expected to compete in the playoffs? Sure. Did Juan make mistakes? No question. But he also showed improvement as his experience progressed. Does that mean he would have eventually been some great coordinator? I have no idea. The odds say no. But he was improving. The word you were looking for was inexperienced. Juan never deserved half the venom he got.

He and Andy were like brothers. Getting a ring is awesome (Andy already had one btw), but I'm sure Juan cried himself to sleep for days after his pal let him go. And his role with BAL wasn't exactly a major position.
