More like Burris heading to the bench
Not a chance.

Why is that? Burnett is far more accomplished. Burris is by no means guaranteed a starting slot on the field. Especially if he doesn't learn to tackle. I liked Burris alot as a rusher, let's see him do that more and less tackling in space.

He's too aggressive and needs to calm down, tackling was actually a strength of his coming out he just is way too over aggressive.

Please elaborate? What did you see in Burris?

I see a guy that is instinctive, aggressive, plays with a mean streak.Dude played very well as a rookie. He will only get better. I'm not ready to concede that he will hit the bench.I believe there is a good shot that he will beat out maiava.

It's true, most of his issues look to happen through over pursuit. Well if that's his issue let him rush the passer and indulge his aggression rather than trying to stifle it. Like I said, I liked him rushing the passer. He looked effective, aggressive even. So ask him to pack on 10-15 and see what he can do on 3rd downs, why not.

we have had several players over the years that have played well early on and regressed.. we as fans hype up players too often.. he has others to compete with now so lets see how he does.

I think Burris beats out Maiava in TC, I like Maiava being our 4th LB he is versatile and can be a ST stud...

Burris Roach Burnett....hard nosed lunch pail type LB unit, may not wow us with huge plays but won't kill us with lack of effort or blown assignments...

Now let's get a ball hawk in our secondary and someone to get to the QB and were Rollin!

I would really be surprised if we take a QB, I also dont think a LT is a position of need, I would rather take Warmack (I know a Guard at 3 is insane, but i think he and Veldheer can be an elite duo.)

Wouldn't mind Milliner I think he's the real deal, but we've seen how valuable a stud CB is when you can't stop the run and have no pass rush...

What makes Burris's spot safe ?. oakdb did say Maivia could be relegated to nickel duties which makes sense.

Given Burris was one of the worst OLBs in all of football last year I wouldn't even say that.

It was the Tampa game I believe where Burris missed AT LEAST 8 tackles. I don't care if you're a rookie. If you're playing defense and you can't wrap up, theres gonna be problems. Maiava isn't the strongest tackler either but compared to Burris last year its an upgrade.

Roach is firmly slated at the mike. The other 3 guys battle it out for the 2 spots outside. Burris isn't going to be handed anything. He was a raw rookie on a crap defense and still didn't do anything to set himself apart from the rest of the fill in lames we had. All I know is Burnett and Maiva should play the nickel since they can cover better than any DB we have right now.

If we take a cornerback number three overall I will personally drive to Reggie McKenzies house and spit in his face.

Sheldon Richardson would be a really nice selection at number three. I think he has Darnell Dockett type potential and would be an excellent fit next to Sims inside.

You know, i used to believe that also (that certain players couldnt be drafted high. I no longer believe that (barring K and P).

If you see a player you think can be a player who can be a long term starter, and a great one at that. You take him. I think Dee Milner is the truth, i think he can be a playmaking CB, I also believe that there are 4-5 DLine prospects that are also going to be legit.

I do perceive our pass rush as a big weakness and would prefer a dlineman.
