lol Does anyone remember that game a few years back when Ben threw to Spaeth like 3x in a row near the endzone?? Of course we didn't score. I remember thinking this guy is a clown.

However, given our thin depth at TE and Haley's affinity for 2 TE sets, things could be worse. At least he can block.

I'm not freaking out, nor do I really care who our 3rd TE will be but just not thrilled with the continued recycling of former players.

I thought gay was a solid nickel to bring back cheap, but Spaeth didn't do anything before and not expecting anything now.

I agree, but again....there really isnt much out there, and I think they just brought him in so they have the positions filled. He isnt a lock to be on the final roster next season.

This is a typical Steelers move. But what I'm interested to see.is if they can actually have a solid draft. They have gotten solid players but they have gotten as many busts. The pressure is on the FO to hit big this year.

And they had Willie Colon rated as a top RT back in 2008....when he was pretty awful.

Spaeth was a mediocre blocker while he was here. May have had a good year last year, but I dont trust hm to keep it up.

I'd rather spend veteran minimum money on a guy who is familiar with the franchise and our QB than overpay someone else that isn't going to make a big impact.

This dude was money in the red zone. Didn't like, 60% of his total catches here result in red zone touchdowns? It was some insane number, I know that! Laughing

Maybe it's based on most whiffs? Or possibly the quickest lineman to fall to the turf??

I don't know why some of you are freaking out, Spaeth isn't being brought in to start. He is being brought in to replace Leonard Pope as the 3rd tight. Last season Pope had a whooping 3 catches for 9 yards and 2 touchdowns.

This is what this teams does, they bring in players they know to fill positions of need. So come draft time they can draft the BPA.

You'd think this was obvious to everyone.... but apparently the sky is falling

I kind of saw this coming. While I'm not a fan of Spaeth's he is decidedly better than Pope was last year.

How does any Steeler fan not understand that what this team does is sure up any obvious holes on the roster with as reliable of putty (Bondo) that it can scrape up in free agency so that they can go into the draft and stick to their fundamentals and ideals, staying true to the board. With the amount of cap space we have, It seems that those of you that are suggesting we sign some midway decent player don't realize that we do have to fill our roster and there are minimums for salary for each of those players.

With the amount of injuries this team sustained over the past year and recent years I don't have any clue how you couldn't realize the need for at least solid and experienced depth.

I still don't know how they managed to win the Super Bowl that year with that offensive line. Laughing

The Steelers dont go into the draft with empty spots. If we draft someone, there is a good chance he doesnt make it.

I dont like the signing, but I knew Steeler fans would be looking for the cyanide caps.

Am I the only one that found this funny! Great post 43
