Per a league source, Adrian Wilson signed a 3-year deal with the Patriots worth $5m. He got a $1m signing bonus. Has a $1m base in '13.

Okay can we just sign Talib now and I'll be happy.

Nice. He may not be as good as Rodney Harrison was for us, but he's a solid veteran presence that should provide leadership for our young secondary. And he should be a good in the box safety, something we haven't had in a while.

If used correctly I think he could be a great pick up. If Tavon makes strides in his second year we could have one of the better safety groups in the AFC ( assuming Devin stays at safety).

Major concern now is grabbing a CB. If they really do sign Sanders we could end up seeing another first round CB as well.

We were always gonna sign one of the veteran safeties out there. Wilson would have been second on my wish list - after Woodson but before Reed. Relatively happy with the move, depending on money of course.

Veteran leadership on a short deal are usually the best deals in FA.

Also means Pollard is definitely not coming here...you can only sign so many safeties who can't cover.

People thought Rodney was done when we signed him as an over 30-years old Safety... of course, really hard to compare.

I do know Wilson was close to elite in 2011, had a down year in 2012.

So...is there any info on how much the cap hit is? Cause with Amendola, Washington, Wilson, and Abraham (potentially), I'd like to know if we have enough money to get Talib and/or Vollmer.

Considering that the Pats had over $21 million in cap space pre-Brady restructure, and reserving the rookie pool, it seems likely that they'd have room to sign at least one of those guys.

And that's all we need him for. To set the tone, and enforce the second level. As long as we don't isolate him against opposing skill players, he will do just fine.
