I like this signing a lot, i've been watching his games since wednesday.
Good in coverage
Excellent tackler
Ok vs the run
He's the cleanup man if Briggs misses his tackle.
Not much of a pass rusher though |

We already used one on Huff, we may want to hold onto that flexibility for a little while longer.
Of course this all hinges on if we are keeping Pallmer or McCLain. |
Kelly too. |
Keep in mind there are 2 June 1st exemptions, but after June 1st there's no need for those. Nothing saying we can't cut just those guys after June 1st, especially if we are not in dire need of cap room right now. |

Well I guess it comes down to trying to get Palmer to take a pay cut or trading him. Because you know they want to hold onto him if possible and get rid of McClain sooner to avoid any bonuses or whatever pre-June. _________________

Really very little need in general to rush the passer from the MLB spot. I liked Wheeler and Burris on their blitzes alot last year, it wasn't used enough. So Burris rushing will be fine for me, he's actually a pretty aggressive rusher and should do it more. Looked much better doing that than he did tackling in space..
I see Roach as a stability creator for us in the middle. A solid who maes the calls and sticks around for a few years just gluing together a new defense. Stability. After that, he can be upgraded if an upgrade is found. And I don't think the staff sees someone like him as an end all and be all at the position. He's someone that fits us well at the moment. |

McClain is probably favourite to be a post June 1st cut. He's young and stupid. The team might give him a chance to show he can cop himself on. Of the 3 he's the only one who has some sort of potential/upside in the future. All three might stick around until after the draft unless traded anyway. Might be a chance a team has their eyes set on a QB, DT, MLB in the draft but miss out on them so get desperate. _________________

I think that Roach can play all three LB positions, so if we draft a MLB and it turns out he can ball, Roach can play the outside spots if someone struggles |

Can Roach play ILB in the 3-4?
am I wrong in assuming that neither Maiava or Roach could fulfill the "thumper" role?
Do these signings signify that we're going to be a 4-3 team?
So many questions... |

There aren't too many questions. Roach will play MLB and Maiava will play one of the OLB spots.
Simple actually. _________________
