Wonder if the Broncos are throwing a wrench into the situation. Folks were saying it was all but done before the Dumervil release, now some are backing off earlier tweets.

mallets barely played with the starting offense;his pic last year was a beautiful pass
And how do you explain away the sub-50% completion rate in preseason?

It's preseason? I don't get all the consternation about backup quarterbacks in general, though. If your QB is out for a short time, there are no shortage of veterans that you can gameplan around for a couple games to get by. If your QB is out for the season, you're screwed regardless.

Preseason stats have very little value.

It's not just about stats. His timing and anticipation has just been dreadful on all but the simplest route combinations.

I like Mallet to, and do think he could be a decent starting QB, but come on: if the Cleveland want him for Taylor straight up, you say yes please and laugh all the way home.

Mike Kafka (just as a random example) would be a fine back-up QB and Taylor could would probably start.

Totally disagree, fact that they let Hoyer go - who had looked good in games - in favor of Mallett says a lot as well.

Just look at that throw...

Maybe someone should start a Ryan Mallet thread.

Yeah, this stopped being about Abraham about two pages ago. Laughing

Yeah. I just saw the thread and thought the numbers had already been given and stuff because there were so many posts but apparently most of the posts are about Ryan Mallett's accuracy. Back on the subject of Abraham, I like the signing although I would still like Freeney too.

I really hope we draft Devin Taylor now that he has a year or two to become a better passrusher while still being used against the run.

This seems to not actually be a real signing (as of yet). Perhaps Billy can change the title of this thread.

Yes. This report seems unreliable.

Changed it slightly, i guess tomorrow we will find out if the two sides agreed to terms or not.

Any further news?

I think Abraham would be the best DE fit for us (of the veteran DE's (Freeney, Umenyoira, Dumervil, Abraham) as he plays the run at a much better clip than the others, all whilst able to generate pressure on the QB. I think he could have an Andre Carter like resurgent season for us, especially on a D-Line with Chandler Jones and Wilfork on it.

Not the most reliable source out there, but apparently we are set to resume talks with Abraham today. Hopefully to hammer out the details of a deal.
