Broken shin. He was trying to block a shot and was like 2-3 feet in the air. His leg almost made a square.

Compound fracture, too. His tibia (or fibula I guess not sure which) was jutting about 6 inches out of his leg. Really gruesome.
Yeah, it is one of the worst injuries I've ever seen. I saw an update on him that said they closed "the wound" last night.

It's right up there with Theismann or Willis McGahee.

I avoided until I saw a pic on Facebook. Disgusting. Saw him up on crutches today wearing the regional champs hat.

Good start for the Tigers bats. It's nice to see some runs manufactured early on.

Yeah, Leyland has done a good job of hit and runs so far.

It's nice to see the opening day victory. It was also nice to see the big guy notch his first victory of the season.

That was JV's first opening day win as well.

This Tigers team is really exciting me. That top 5-6 is one of, if not the best in the game, and the bottom few aren't too bad either. Our rotation is great, and if Coke steps up this year our bullpen looks solid as well. Obviously injuries can change some things, but we do have Rondon, Castellanos, and Garcia waiting to come up in case of injury. If we could add a great defensive SS this team would be so much better though.

Given the cool temperatures and it being opening day I was glad Leyland didn't keep JV in the game to long. An injury to him would put an instant damper on things.

Yeah, we don't need to risk anything with him, at least this early.

Or he falls in the draft because teams are too scared to take on a raw project like him.

I'm pretty much expecting the Wings to do nothing. They signed Danny DeKeyser and Babcock made some comments about how getting players back from injury would be like making trade deadline moves. It's okay. I don't think the Wings are one player away from suddenly becoming big Stanley Cup contenders, nor do I really want to trade any of our prospects for a winger or 3rd pairing defenseman in his mid-to-late 30's again.
